Chapter 9: Two Conrolling Jerks

I woke up Saturday to my phone going off. I picked it up and groaned it was a text from Kyle.

KYLE: Hey babe ;)

I didn't respond and i texted the girls in a group chat.

ME: I need a night out!

LINDSEY: What happened?

ME: My dad's making me date Kyle Grove :{ Clare said the silent treatment usually works on him so i'm not talking to him.

LIZZIE: Eww! He deserves the silent treatment!

LINDSEY: I'm sorry that sucks!

BECCA: That's awful! I wouldn't even look at my dad if he did that to me!

COLLEEN: How did dinner with that scumbag go?

ME: Terrible he's got the biggest ego ever!

My friends and i are some of the few people who can't stand him Sammie couldn't either but Sarah and the other girls i hung out with in Texas would all disagree so i was happy to have the friends i have now. Man i miss Sammie she would know how to get out of this mess.

ME: SLEEPOVER!!!!!

LINDSEY:MY HOUSE!!!!!

COLLEEN: What about Kailen?

ME: Yeah i already have to deal with one spoiled rich kid.

LINDSEY: Don't worry about it she's got some sleepover with Rachel. Those two hit it off the first day of school not that i'm surprised they're both obnoxious rich kids!

LIZZIE: YAY sleepover!!! let's get our fangirl on!

BECCA: Colleen still hasn't seen Doctor Who ;)

COLLEEN: I have a feeling i'll see more than enough Doctor Who tonight!

ME: Oh you bet!!!!!!!!

LINDSEY: Come over around 6 unless you need to get away from your dad sooner Dani then you can come early lol

ME: No worries my dads should be at work by now ill go downstairs and check.

I threw on some jeans, a shirt that said chase your dreams, and i put on my boots for the first time since i came here. I grabbed a purple hoodie and i ran downstairs unfortunately my dad was there. "Good morning Dani." He said. I rolled my eyes and went to the dining room he followed. "Look i know you're upset but it will all work out." I ignored him and asked a maid for a chocolate muffin. "Dani come on most girls would kill to be in your shoes!" The maid came out and gave me the muffin and i stated to take it too my room when my dad grabbed my arm "Talk to me Dani." I glared at him and yanked my arm away i ran outside and started walk around the neighborhood. It was cold outside since February only ended two weeks ago but i just pulled my hoodie tighter and kept walking there was no way i was going back to that house until i was sure he had left for work. I came to the end of the neighborhood of mansions and i walked out. The road next to the neighborhood wasn't that busy it had a canopy of trees surrounding it and if you drove about four miles either way then you would hit the highway so i still had a lot of space to walk before it got noisy. My phone buzzed and i pulled it out of my pocket. It was (of course) my dad.

DAD: I'm taking off work today. We could go get lunch

I ignored it and texted Lindsey

ME: Ugh my dad is taking off of work so he can torment me

LINDSEY: I'm sure that's what he said

ME: He implied it

LINDSEY: Want me to come pick you up?

ME: Please.

LINDSEY: I'll be there in 15!

I slipped my phone back in my pocket and i ran back home. "Are we going to lunch?" My dad asked as i walked in. I shook my head, glared, and went upstairs. I threw together a bag of clothes, movies, nail polish, makeup, and other necessities and i changed into converse. Then the doorbell rang and i walked out of my room My dad answered it before i could even get on the first stair "Hello Lindsey!" he said but she just glared and then she saw me quickly running down the stairs. "You're a life saver, Lindsey!" I said walking past my dad and out the door. "Nice to see you can talk." My dad said. Lindsey and i just glared and then turned to go to her car. We got in and drove away. "Wow you went along with the silent treatment also!" I said. "Yeah it works better when he knows you've ranted about him with all your friends!" She said as we drove up to her house. We got out and went to her room. Her room was nice and cozy. She had a desk pushed up against one wall with stuff all over it. Her bed was in the other corner with a TV across from and a nightstand next to it. She had a bunch of different posters over her bed like Doctor Who and tons of different superheroes. She had a huge stack of movies and video games next to her TV and an X-box controller on the nightstand just ready to be used. "Your room is so cozy!" I said. "I like yours better." I laughed "Wanna switch? I could do with a vacation from my dad!" She rolled her eyes and turned on Netflix. We didn't really pay attention to the movie we just talked for a while. Soon everyone else showed up and we turned off the TV and tuned on some music. "So you don't have to answer this but who's your mom? You never talk about her and the tabloids never say why you had to move in with your dad in the first place." Lizzie asked. "Lizzie!" Becca scolded but i could tell she too was curious. They all were they were trying not to look at me expectantly. I took in a breath. I hadn't told them about Sammie or he car accident or anything i guess it was time i did. "She died in a car crash. She was taking my sister to drop her off for a date." I said. "You had a sister?" Lindsey asked. I nodded "Twin." i said. Everyone was silent i took out my wallet and pulled out some pictures we had taken in a photo booth at a school dance when we were 13. I passed it around everyone looked at it. "You never said you had a twin!" Becca said. "Yeah it's hard to talk about we were really close." I said grabbing my necklace and pushing back tears. "Well on a happier note what are we going to do for your birthday in two week?" Lindsey asked coming to the rescue. "I don't want to do anything!" It was true this will be the first birthday without Sammie i don't know how i'm going to get through the day much less a party. "Why not?!? You will be 16 you will be old enough to drive!" I shook my head "I don't care." She looked at me confused but realized i was holding my locket. "Your sister had one of those didn't she? You grab it any time family comes up." I nodded and my phone rang. 'Saved by the bell' I thought stupidly answering it without checking caller ID. "Hello?" I said.

"Hey so i was thinking we should go see a movie tomorrow." I groaned it was Kyle. "Oh Kyle i would love to but tomorrow i'm having a girls day." I said stretching out his name and looking at my friends who all scrunched up their faces at the mention of his name. I put in on speaker "Oh babe just cancel say something came up i should be your number one priority!" My eyebrows shot up and rage filled me "Excuse me?" my friends all had the same look as me. "Look right now you are my girlfriend and as my girlfriend you will do what i say what i want you to! Now i'm picking you up at six tomorrow be ready and wear something sexy!" He said hanging up the phone. Anger exploded out of me "WHAT A COMPLETE JERK WHAT DID MY STUPID FATHER GET ME INTO UGH I AM GOING TO KILL SOMEONE!" Everyone looked at me with sympathy "That's horrible." Becca whispered in terror. "That's pretty much abuse." Colleen said. I nodded tomorrow was not going to be fun.
