Signa's POV

By the time I've stolen cookies from Caleb's plate and ate more than five like a complete slob, the girl had already managed to kick in the idea that she'd leave in some time.

I waited with pride, while she picked up her hand bag, and said bye to both of us. Caleb followed up to the door either ways, and locked It before he came back.

Mom and Dad still aren't here.

"You wanna put them away?" He says, putting the keys on a table next to the living room entrance.

I stare down at the amount of spare cookies we'd left. I think I'm the one who most ate, actually.

"Yeah" I say, granting back at his request with a very minisculed tone.

I wasn't able to interpret what that girl's conversation was about. I just latched on to the idea that It was a text from Jaden, and they were planning to do something. For what.. or who.. I wasn't sure.
It can't be me right?

Ugh.. stop daydreaming Signa. I'll repeat It a million times If I have to.

I rub my eyes in frustration.

"Are you in Signa-world or did your brain cells run loose?" Caleb watches me, leaning sideways on a kitchen counter, arms crossed.

Ah yeah, the cookies.

I grab the plate, and trade the confection my brother made into a plastic container, topping It off with It's lid.

I sent It straight to the cupboard, and then realized Caleb was still observing me.

I smile at his stupid face to see why he's so observant.

"You read the convo?" He straightened out his back, pushing his hands behind him on the black counters.

"Just the longest message.." I take a seat back on the high chair, straightening my feet out on the seat next to It.

"Can I explain what It is before you go on babbling your mouth out?"

I don't even know what they're doing and to who It's for.

"I suppose" I shrug in response.

"So, I reconnected with Ina, right? But the thing is, she wants to "chat" with the girl I cheated on her with"

"Wait wait.. what?"

"what?" His face tightens

"Ina?"

"Yeah, didn't you read the part where It said we were planning to do something about Brina but Jaden said she wouldn't believe It?"

Holy brain.. my mind exploded. Since when do people call her that.

Sabrina to Brina, to Ina. Each time It gets shorter.

Might have to start calling her na.. or Sodium, because you know.. Na.
Sorry, so cheesy, fuck.

Caleb stares me down as If he's reading my dumb thoughts. I jump back to reality for the tenth time today.

"Sure yeah, sorry.. continue"

So the text was talking about Brina. Or maybe It was for me and he knows I didn't read It well so he's just trying to trick me.
I need to stop babbling nonsense to myself, I'm really sorry you're reading my dumb thoughts.

"Bri wants to meet the girl. That's pretty fucking weird, right?" He recourses back to the last important phrase he had said.

"Yeah, of course. Why would she want to meet her? Slap her and say goodbye?"

"I guess girls do that, but here It just looks like a weird scheme."

"Maybe Sabrina wants to get It on with her so you can feel like she did!" I say with a bright smile, completely focusing on sarcasm.

His eyes melt into a deep stare, almost into my soul. I wanted to laugh, but the dreary look he had made me keep It all in.

"So this chick, Ashley" He points at the seat the girl who was here before was seated on. "She's the culprit."

"The culprit?" I really can't understand my brother when he speaks in codes. I may be his sister, but I'll never understand his weirdly-made ass.

"The one who's helping me out of this mess, Signa" His shoulders cut loose on a wide proportion.

I stare at him with blank confusion, as I always do.

My eyes coursed between his face and the seat she was sat on.

"But who did you meet to cheat on Brina? She's nicer than any girl I could ever meet, let alone know of." I ask, out of the blue.

"That's uninmportant" Caleb scoffs in front of me.

Okay, weird.
Then, I'll ask him this..

"So.. she's the same girl Jaden went out with?"

I can see the his face starting to become as confused as mine. It was like a spark of surprise and disorientation that just magically managed to get on his features.

"Why do you-?" He begins but I cut off mid-question.

"Is she?"

"I don't fucking know.. we don't share those things. What's It to you either way?"

"He's-" I'm close to speaking but I don't get enough time. He eyes me down before tracing his steps to our front door.

I'm left sitting in complete silence, without lowering my feet from the seat.

They're not even together anymore.. and I said that to myself even though my brain didn't want to believe It. I wanted the worst outcome as always.

But now It's all uncovered! I cheer to myself.

Thanks Caleb for the entertaining moment.

I am still worried on who my brother cheated on Brina with, but maybe I don't know them. Maybe It's nothing important to me.

I run up the stairs once I catch a glimpse of my parents walking in front of Caleb, with his diva-like expression pettily planted on his stupid face. Geez, he got on the high horse fast.

I pick out my phone expecting a washfull of messages on my notifications, but I should bare with reality for once and know I'm not a famous figure with stacking numbers.

At least a text from a friend would've been something reassuring that I'm still a social butterfly or a living human being.

I stomp over my bed, standing taller than any other thing in my room with my phone in hands.

Hey

I send with a superficial grin splattered on my face.
