Signa's POV
All of a sudden, the school speakers are turned on, and a static overflows around us.
It takes a minute, before a voice takes over.
"Signa Evans, Caleb Evans.. Jaden Hossler, please report to the Principal's office immediately."
I blink many times, and It felt as If every blink slowed down time a bit more.
Are you kidding me. The moment I have the courage to ask something so delicate to me, the world tips Itself over so I can't get what I want.
If this is karma for anything, I swear to God.
I start walking to where I knew we should be, and Jaden started following behind.
"Sig.."
I raise my hand up at his face so he wouldn't say a word. Today seems like an unlucky day, so I won't let the bad luck spread.
I spread a deadly smile over my lips.
We arrive at the office, and that's when my body shivers at the two figures standing behind the desk, next to the Principal.
Two cops, staring right at us.
Caleb walked in some minutes later.
I could feel a gulp of resistance in my throat, but It was about to fall into my stomach any second now.
"Please, take a seat" One of the cops states, as they spread an arm to mark out our chairs.
I took a gentle step to the front, before letting my body fall into the seat.
I wanted to look calm, but almost every limb in my body was shaking, and It wasn't really helping at all.
"I hope you already know why you're here.. no?" The same cop steps forward, both hands held together behind him.
I look down to my crotch, just to avoid the penetrating eyes of the old man from digging into my soul.
"Alcohol, isn't that right, kids?" The other cop speaks up, and I can already feel my bones become pudding.
Since when..
who..
how do they know about that. Cops never came to the party.. or did they. I can't even remember.I look up at both cops, and feel their eyes take over of my mental stability. I'm done for.
"We're taking you in until any of your parents take you out. Reasoning, underage drinking." They walk beside us, and even though I want to hit a wall, I end up standing, next to the two grumpy teens that stood beside me.
My brother looked like he was about to burst.
Two hours later, we've been locked up behind bars, the three of us together. I've been sat on a concrete seat, kicking my feet together for what seems like days.
Our phones were taken away, and school bags as well. I don't know If Caleb brought his backpack, since I didn't really pay any attention to him. I was paying more attention to Jaden, who was walking from one wall to the other.
He literally tacked one wall, and then walked to the other one, just to tack that one as well with his index finger. The cycle just continues.
I was this close to biting my nails.
I wondered when someone someone would actually come pick us up. Do Mom or Dad even dare to come?
I'm sure they'll be fined because of us. They're gonna kill the both us, no doubt about that.
I throw my head back, before Caleb sits beside me..
"This is your fault. I wasn't even at the party." He whispers."My fault?" I jump in my position, letting my voice out after two hours of a dry ass mouth.
"Yeah, your fault" He presses his finger over the middle of my bandage.
I pull my arm away and almost slap him, but I didn't have the strength.I was so stressed, I felt like every hair follicle was slowly falling off of my scalp on every milisecond that dared to pass.
"You were at the hospital, weren't you?" A cop leans on the farthest wall to us, of course on the outside of the cell.
Caleb nods, tiredness widely expressed.
"I was only named the people that were there. Hossler," He looks at Jaden, "and the two Williams" and looks at us.
Right, It was only me, Jaden and Caleb.
"But-" Caleb speaks, but not even midway, he just freezes.
Has he lost brain cells in a couple of hours behind bars? I wouldn't doubt It..
Jaden was still walking from side to side, biting on the end of his thumb. I was really worried for him, not only because of how he's acting right now, but also for what he might say to me after what I asked him.
There's only so much he can say, but Jaden is the kind of person to pick one thing to say, and never change It, to what I perceive.
I hope that If he knows what to say to me, It won't kill me too far inside. Just go gentle on my brain when you say It..
Jaden opens his hands in front of him and observes the floor. He's thinking so superficially, It's scary.
I tapped my fingers over my thighs, repeatedly making a beat that only bounced around in my head.
Federal charges because of underage drinking, huh?
But when there's a school shooting, where's the fucking police there. Where's the police when they see a black man? Killing him, that's where they are.
It makes me sick.. to live in a country where nothing but hatred is spread.
[I expressed my real feelings on this. Rest in Peace, George Floyd, and any other black person who was ever harassed. Black lives do matter. There's no freedom anymore, and It just makes me sad.
You may continue to the story;]After a whole other hour of kicking and hitting our heads on the wall, our Mom.. and Jaden's Father, I guessed, showed up.
Our parents both locked eyes for a second, before turning to us, and downing to reality. Their kids were in temporary jail.
Another cop showed up, and finally opened the bars.
I got up from the concrete seat, and my buttcheeks said 'thank you' throughout my muscles.
We went through a whole sequence, where the station's cops debated on letting us go, and our parents fought word after word for us to get another chance.
For a second, I'm left beside Jaden, sat down in a wide, all-gray hall. Caleb excused himself to the bathroom. Escape while you can, brother.
The silence was surreal.
Jaden didn't speak, nor move. His eyes were always promised on a point, directly in front of him.
I wanted to know what was going on inside his head, but I couldn't. The truth was that I'd never know.
I bounced a foot over to his, still seeing if I could get his attention.
