"Wh-what?"
You and connie stared wide-eyed at the boy as he let a bright, confident smile enlightened his face. "Yeah! I mean, look at how tiny they are!" He holds you out to connie, showing her just how small you were, all snuggled up in his palms. "They might get themselves hurt again. Or worse! I think it should be taken care of until it's big enough to be on its own." Connie looked down at you for a moment, like she were considering his decision, but then that weary look returned to her face as she looked up at steven. "But... steven... that might not be a good idea," she replied softly. "They're dangerous, remember? the.. shipwrecks and stuff?" You winced slightly at this remark, but part of you understood her protest. It wasn't like she was wrong.. Steven frowned, as if he was offended, eyes flicking between you and her, holding you closer to his chest. "Come on... w-we don't know that. Maybe this one will be different!" he protested, sounding almost determined. "Besides if I was able to bring peace to the Galaxy, I could definitely raise a siren into being good."
Connie tipped her head to the side, appearing to mull over her friend's words, her eyes focused on your small form in his palms, watching as you leaned forward to take hold of his black shirt, looking amazed at the soft, black fabric, making him giggle softly and bring you closer to his chest, letting you climb up his shirt, and crawl upto his shoulder and onto his head, sniffing and kneading at his soft, curly dark brown hair, marveling at how fluffy it felt. It felt so foreign to the slick, smooth hair, you were used to, and was often damp due to your ocean dependant environment. Steven giggled at the ticklish feeling of your tiny paws scamper across his head.
After a moment or two, connie appeared to have a convinced look on her face, though she still had a faint trace of uncertainty in her eyes. "Well... okay. If you say so." Steven, having heard his friend's approval, beamed brightly at her. "Awesome! This'll be great!" You scurried back down to his shoulder, and after sniffing at his neck, perched yourself just against it, relishing in the warmth. "They're already off to a great start." He chuckled and brought a hand up to you, rubbing an index finger over your head. "Come on, let's go show the others!"
With that, Steven and connie race over to some type of strange pad on the ground and stand atop it. At this point, he plucks you gently from his neck, much to your dismay, prompting him to give you a reassuring smile. "You might wanna go in the pocket for this."
You lifted your eyebrow, tipping your head to the side. Pocket? What's a pocket? To answer your question, he suddenly lowers you to a small pouch in his jacket, opening it wide enough for you to see inside. It was the same pink of the jacket and had a slightly sweet scent drifting from within it. It was also kinda dark. Naturally, you hesitated, squinting suspiciously into the inclosed space, before looking up at him in uncertainty. He in turn smiles down at you warmly. "Come on. you'll be safer in there. Trust me!"
You lift your eyebrow in skepticism for a moment, contemplating whether or not to comply. Well... This human was nice enough to try and take care of you, despite your kind's reputation... you thought peering into the pouch's darkness. ...it wouldn't hurt to comply I suppose. with a shrug, you slowly crawl into the surprisingly warm enclosure, shuffling around a bit to get yourself comfortable, before popping your head out, clicking in surprise at how comfortable it is.
To your delight they smile and chuckle softly. "They're very cooperative." Connie stated, to which steven nodded, and gently pushed on your head with his index finger. "You might wanna go inside for this." With an inward shrug, you shrink back into his pocket and curl up in the warm inclosure. From there, you decide to take advantage of the warmth and have a nap to recover some more energy, before facing whatever these humans have next for you.
~~~~~~~~~~"Hey guys! You will not believe what we just saved on the beach!"
You were startled awake by a loud voice sounding from outside your cozy little pouch. You rub your eyes, slightly dazed from being yanked out of your sleep so suddenly. What the...? Before you can process what's going on, you look over to see a massive fair-skinned hand reach into your inclosure, causing your eyes to widen in alarm and instinctively shrink back in a confused protest.
"Come on, little buddy. there's other people I'd like you to meet."
...Others? Your eyes widened slightly. Other beings to meet? A pang of unease stabbed your belly. Once again, this could easily be a human trick. Who knows what your gonna face! these beings could be dangerous! After all, humans are very unpredictable. But then again, if he wanted to do you any harm, he would have done it by now, wouldn't he? And judging by how this human is, perhaps there's more out there like him! ...I hope. You huffed quietly and walked into his hand, his fingers closing delicately around your small form and taking you out of his pocket, holding you up into the light. "Check it out!"
You were then greeted by 3 very interesting looking individuals.
A tall, thin pale woman with a notably pointed nose and peach colored hair in a slicked back pixie cut style. She also, strangely enough had an large shiny pearl smack in the center of her forehead. She jerked back in alarm at the sight of you making a strange, startled yelp. "What the--!?"
The next one was a short purple woman, with long pale lavender hair that covered one eye and stretched to the floor. She had a purple gem on her chest. Her eyes were wide in amazement as she stared at you in awe. "Cooool..."
Finally, there was a tall, maroon/red woman with a dark square-like afro of hair, and an interesting crown-shaped pair of orange glass over her face, which obscured her eyes from your view. She stared at you calmly, which honestly gave you a minor chill. "What's that?"
"This, guys... is a baby siren." He stated, almost proudly. "Pearl" blinked in curiosity as you bent down to sniff at the boy's fingers. "A... siren?" Connie nodded, reaching over to pet your head with her index finger. "Yup! Not the kind of siren you're probably thinking of, these kinds live in places near the ocean," Connie explained as you groomed your naturally smooth hair, running your claws through your hair to untangle it. "And in greek mythology, they're known for their enchanting voices." Pearl suddenly looked interested. "Oh, it sings?"
Steven shrugged. "Well... not yet, I don't think." Steven said, gently holding you in his grip, as you let him gently stroke your head. "They haven't said much since we found them." You turned back and looked up at him with a little closed lip smile. "Maybe it's because they're still too young." Connie suggested with a hand on her chin. Garnet suddenly pressed a hand to her visor and set her hands on her hips. "I think they'll start speaking when they feel ready." You turned to the trio and offer them a little closed lipped smile, in which they return.
"Such a sweet little thing." Pearl noted, tapping your nose with an index finger, making you smile wider and flick your tail in delight. "Does this cutie pie have a name?" garnet asks, rubbing your cheek with an index finger. Steven looked down at you, to which you smile up at him. "I think I'll call them..." he thinks for a moment, before smiling as one came to mind. "(Name)!" he chuckled.
"The first crystal gem siren!"
