CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
xxix. home always comes first
_______Leo had set the course to the middle of the Atlantic. Apparently, their next stop was to visit Chiron's brothers, who happened to be in the middle of the ocean. Sebastian just decided not to ask any questions about it. He'd rather not know.
Currently, his attention was solely on Percy Jackson, who had worn himself out cooking up that storm with Jason. Sebastian had offered them both his blood, but they said they shouldn't bother with something a good nap would fix. Percy had used that excuse as he dragged himself to his cabin, but silently gestured for Sebastian to follow.
Once Sebastian was sure everyone else was alright and didn't need any miracle healing, he followed after Percy into his cabin.
He could guess why Percy wanted to talk. The kiss. Neither of them had really had a chance to even think about it given the attack, but it was something they would need to talk about.
Sebastian was overthinking it as he walked to Percy's cabin. What if Percy hated it? He's never come out or anything so how did Sebastian even know if Percy was into guys? He'd been asking about Sebastian's sexuality, sure, but that could just be general curiosity. No, Sebastian told himself. Percy kissed him back. Unless it was just a natural reaction, Sebastian would take that as a good sign.
Sebastian lightly knocked on Percy's door. Percy told him to come in straight away, so Sebastian pushed the door open.
Percy was sat on his bed, legs dangling off the side and his hands patting his knees in some kind of rhythm. But he stopped when Sebastian walked in and gave the vampire a smile. "Hey."
"Hi," Sebastian said back. He perched on the other side of Percy's bed, not wanting to make the son of Poseidon feel uncomfortable or anything. "You feeling okay? It was quite a big storm you summoned earlier."
"Just a little tired, but when am I not?" Percy replied. "What about you? You did a lot of shadow-travelling and I know you're not that used to it yet. Nico gets really easily drained when he does it a lot."
"Well, I heal instantly most of the time so I doubt it affects me as much as him," Sebastian theorised, assuming it was true. "I'm just glad we all got out alive."
Percy smiled to himself. "Or dead, in your case."
"Undead."
Percy chuckled before his face became more serious again. "At least we won't have to worry about them again. They won't be following us, right?"
"No," Sebastian confirmed. "Now, we either complete the quest and settle the score between the Greeks and the Romans, or we die trying."
"Well, we'd die," Percy said. But Sebastian didn't reply. This caused a silence to settle between them until Percy dared ask a question that had been on his mind for a while. "If it comes down to it, and there is war between the Greeks and the Romans... who will you fight with?"
