I didn't know how to respond. I just lay there, dumfounded.
"h-how do you know my name?" I managed. The wolf said nothing. Then I saw it. A deep scar, deeper than the other ones that covered is body, on his forehead. I had a flashback to my stoning.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, its just a scratch. He got me good. But I got him better"
"Oh my god." I said. I shook my head, scrambling up. "Oh my god oh my god oh my god."
I couldn't think straight. I couldn't breath straight.
"Nick?"
He didn't say anything for a moment. All of a sudden, he rushed forward. I thought he would hug me, cry, apologize. Instead, he kissed me. He kissed me hard, on the lips. I was too shocked to kiss him back, so I just grabbed his curly hair. He began to cry as he kissed me again, on my neck. He took a breath and held my face with gentle, scarred palms.
"I didn't think I would see you again." He managed. I was still dumfounded. Nick. Nick was still alive. He was standing there, in front of me. And he had kissed me.
And he's a werewolf.
"OH MY GOD." I yelled, pulling away. "Oh. My. GOD, NICK."
"What?" He asked. He tilted his head. Adorable. Hot. But the thoughts didn't come, not really. All I could think about was murderer.
"Don't 'what' me!" I said. "You've been killing people, freaking eating them!"
I caught my breath, then turned to him again, glowering at him. "You freaking ate Cindy."
Instead of apologizing, of crying of the horrible things he's done, he laughed. He freaking laughed. "I don't know what you're talking about." He said. "I took Cindy away. We've been communicating for a while now. Mom's gotten sick, and Cindy didn't want to be there anymore. I took her to my cabin-" Before I could ask, he nodded-" Yes, I have a cabin. I wanted to take you too, that's why I broke into your house. But I couldn't find you, the whole thing reeked of gasoline, so I left."
"But then why are people disappearing?" I asked, arms crossed. He looked at me, confused.
"What?"
I gasped, shocked. More thoughts hit me like a train.
He didn't know.
