"You're a little late today." My assistant Brandy said once I came walking into my boutique.

"I was at the police station paying a fucking ticket that I got last night

"I was at the police station paying a fucking ticket that I got last night." I shook my head still in utter disbelief that he had dared to even give me a ticket.

"Apparently we were too fucking loud." I snapped sucking my teeth placing my bag down on the counter.

"Whoa calm down." Brandy chuckled.

I shot her a glare, this really wasn't the time to be taking this lightly. Realizing I was dead ass serious she quickly raised her hands up in surrender before she checked the time on her phone.

"Time to open up this store." She said walking over to the glass doors.

She flipped the sign around now making the 'Open' sign visible to the customers as she pulled the doors wide open. I walked around the counter and took my phone out of my bag. I looked up and watched as a few customers came walking in. I looked back down at my phone and scrolled through my Instagram feed. I honestly had no idea what took over me but I typed 'Edmonds' right into the search button. I scrolled down the few Edmonds that there were but nothing, I groaned continuing my search for Officer Edmonds. I can't believe it, I didn't even have a first name and I was already infatuated with this man.

"Does he not have a damn IG profile?" I mumbled to myself before being startled by one of my customers.

"Yes." I snapped looking up and immediately frowned.

"Hi mom." I said locking my phone placing it down on the counter.

"Hello. What has you all in your feelings today?" She asked placing a mug of iced coffee along with it's straw down in front of me.

"Thank you." I smiled, she always did this for me everyday.

"Yeah well since you don't have a man that will do this for you, I have too." She rolled her eyes.

"You know you don't have to." I shrugged nonchalantly picking up the straw.

I ripped off the paper and tossed it into the little bin beside me before sticking the straw into the mug.

"You're my baby so I'm going to do it." She said.

She always confused the fuck out of me.

"I'm gonna go. Don't overwork yourself." She sternly said before we both leaned over the counter.

I turned my face to the side allowing her to peck my cheek. Pulling back she tossed the strap of her handbag over her shoulder and walked out.

"Bye miss Jorga!" Brandy waved with a grin at her.

"Goodbye." My mother said back.

Just as she walked out my eyes widened at the figure that walked in. It was officer Edmonds. Shit! I accidentally knocked my drink out all over the counter. I quickly picked up my phone and grabbed the nearest box of tissues.

"I got it." I snapped at the fact that he tried to help me.

He backed away as he watched me wipe the counter. Why was he here? Did he follow me? Is he my new stalker now. Once done I tossed everything into the bin.

"Dammit!" I hissed at the paperwork that was now soaked.

"A little help won't hurt nobody." He chuckled.

I rolled my eyes, I hated having to ask for any help from a man.

"Brandy!" I called.

She came up to me and her eyes immediately widened.

"What the hell happened here?" She gasped helping me pick everything off of the counter.

"I spilled my drink." I said my eyes never leaving officer Edmonds who began to look around the store.

He looked at me making me quickly place my attention onto Brandy.

"Let me get that for you." He said picking up the cash register. "Thank you." Brandy smiled up at him.

"No problem." He said.

I sucked my teeth folding my arms over my chest. He waited on her to finish cleaning up before he placed it back down on the counter.

"That wasn't so bad was it?" He smiled looking at me.

"Are you stalking me now officer Edmonds?" I arched my brows.

"Of course not that would be against the law." He shook his head. "And as you can see... I work for it." He chuckled grabbing ahold of his badge that was clipped to his belt.

I looked up at him.

"Still does not explain why you're here?" I sternly questioned moving back allowing Brandy to pass by me.

"You forgot this." He said pulling out a piece of paper making me pull my face in confusion.

I hesitantly reached my hand out to take it from him, bringing the paper up to my face I scanned over what looked to be an address. I dropped my hand and looked at him skeptically.

"What is this?"

"The place where we're gonna have dinner." He smiled.

I held back my smile. I didn't need to show him my soft side just yet, he had to earn it.

"And what makes you think that I want to be going out on a date with you?" I asked folding my arms over my chest.

"Well for starters you're holding back one hell of a smile." He smirked making me roll my eyes. "I'll meet you there at 8 p.m. tomorrow night." He stated, "the name is Kenny." He smiled.

"Nice boutique." He said scanning it over one last time before he walked out.

I shook my head in disbelief, once he disappeared around the corner I smiled scanning over the address once more. I don't know what draws me more towards him, his confidence or the way he didn't take no for an answer? It was probably both... I bit my lip looking out the store watching the cars pass by. Kenny Edmonds, mmm.
