Chapter 18

"Happy birthday, Xy!"

All my cousins shouted as I entered Kaye's condo. I smiled and appreciated their effort for my birthday.

It's past twelve when I got here ang good thing I drove safely. I never thought that they'll do efforts for my birthday so I really appreciated it even if I am shocked of what happened.

They kissed me in both side of my cheeks and greeted me again.

May dala dala si Kaye na cake na may mukha ko. I laughed and got cried a bit because, of course! It's the first time I got surprised by them!

"Blow and make a wish."ani Hale at ngumiti.

I wiped my tears first before I closed my eyes to wish then blew the candle. I laughed and gave them a hug then thanked them for their efforts.

The whole room is full of light pink and white balloons on the floor as well as the ceiling. May pangalan ko pa na nakadikit sa bakanteng dingding katapat ng TV. It's a golden balloon so I cried more.

I'm not overreacting, I'm just appreciating their efforts for making my 20th birthday memorable. Hindi lang talaga pumasok agad sa isip ko ang mga nangyayari kaya ganito nalang ako ka-emosyonal dahil nga first time 'to nangyari.

I am kinda hard to surprise because I would know about their plan. Ngayon lang ako nasurprise ng ganito katindi dahil hindi na ako gaanong nakasalamuha kasama nila dahil kay Arc. I was kinda guilty because I spent more time with Arc and just don't care about what's going on in my surroundings.

Dinala nila ako sa dining room at agad nakita ang mga nakalatag na mga putahe sa lamesa. I smiled.

"Hey, you should thank me for cooking this special dishes for your birthday. And pinagamit ko din ang condo ko sa mini celebration natin. One week namin 'tong pinagplanuhan, girl ah! Buti nalang hindi mo kami gaanong nakakasama kaya madali lang magplano."ani Kaye. I sighed and smiled to them apologetically one by one.

"Sorry. I spent more time with Arc without knowing what's going on with you. Sorry talaga. I promise I'll try to spend time with you guys."ani ko. Agad ding bumuntong hininga nang magsalita si Hale.

"No need for that, Xy. We're happy that you're happy. Kahit na hindi kami ang nagpapasaya sa iyo. When you have a problem, we're just here beside you no matter what."aniya at ngumiti. I smiled and a tear got out from my eye because of her statement.

I wiped it off and watched the mini birthday celebration they planned for me. The dining table is full of light pink ang white balloons just like in the living room but this time, the balloons were on the ceiling. May nakalagay din na 'Happy 20th Birthday, Xyriel!" na kulay light pink din sa dingding.

I actually can't describe of what I'm feeling right now. I felt happy and contented with my cousins, felt surprised and shocked of what happened, and wanted to cry because of the efforts and time they reserved for my birthday.

We ate happily after they sang a birthday song for me. I thought it would feel old for my ears if I would hear that song but it made me happy and... just happy like I want to get my heart inside my lungs to show it to you how it palpitated so hard in happiness.

"Mamaya na namin ibigay ang gift namin para sayo. Para ma-excited ka at masurprise na naman."ani Sheen at uminom sa watermelon shake na hawak.

Uminom ako sa mango shake na hawak at tumango na nakangiti. Tumingin ako sa gawi nila Jean at nakita kung paano makatitig si Hale na para akong mamahaling gamit na kailangan tignan para hindi mabasag. Kumunot ang noo ko.

I'm starting to feel creepy on how Hale looked at me and her words. She kept on telling me how hard love is and how it might affect me in the end. Binalewala ko iyon noong una ngunit dahil sa titig niya sa akin na parang naaawa, nagtataka na ako.
