"YOU PROMISED!" I shouted.I watched as my Dad paced around the hotel room clenching and unclenching his fists in anger trying ever so hard not to punch something. For the last three hours the adults argued amongst themselves about what they would all do tonight when their man on the inside meets up with Jameson and I couldn't help but notice that I wasn't mentioned, I had prayed my Dad would change his mind since he did promise I could be involved.
"WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE A CHILD AND DO AS YOUR TOLD?" My Dad yelled at me in frustration.
"ENOUGH!" Polly said loudly and turned me to face her. "Primrose it's too much of a risk to bring you along, you need to stay here with Daniel and Javier. If tonight goes to plan you can be a part of the next step."
I shook my head. "No, I want to help now!" I stated.
"Stay here!" My Dad told me as he placed his cap on top of his head.
I watched in annoyance as my Dad threw on his long dusty black coat then stormed out the room. Slowly everyone began to leave, Arthur left without saying a word, John patted my shoulder as he followed his brothers, Michael sent me a small smile as he left and Polly kissed my cheek.
"He does love you," Polly told me then she too left with the men.
I slammed the door shut then turned to face Javier and Daniel. "What now?" I asked.
The two before me seemed to look very surprised at my temper, I suppose it's because neither have seen me very angry before since I never really had a reason to display that emotion until now. I was angry, I wanted the man who had tortured children for months to pay for his crimes and I wanted to help like my Dad promised I could do but I was taken out of the plan and made to sit out.
Javier picked up the newspaper off the table then sat down on the sofa sighing softly. "Unfortunately Primrose, we are to stay here," He told me.
Daniel and I shared a look. "So we just sit?" I asked.
"Sorry but yes," Javier told me.
"Why don't we play cards?" Daniel asked me. "We can play poker or fish?"
I frowned. "Since when did you learn to play fish?" I asked.
No offence to Daniel but he knew nothing about card games, the only reason he knew how to play poker is because his Chef at home used to gamble a lot and on an evening the staff in Daniels house used to play card games, as Daniel got older and started staying up late he would play cards with the adults.
"Can't you teach me?" Daniel asked.
I rolled my eyes. "So you can't play fish then?" I asked.
"No," Daniel grumbled.
I leaned backwards letting my back rest against the door signing softly. "If you find a pack of cards then yes, I'll teach you how to play," I told him.
Quicker than a fly I watched Daniel run around the hotel room searching for a pack of cards. I walked over to the window and looked at the street below, my family were getting into their cars, my Dad turned and looked up at the window, he looked at the ground then climbed into the driver's seat and drove off down the street.
"He's trying," Javier stated.
I turned to look at Javier. "What?" I asked with a frown.
"Tommy doesn't want to be your enemy. That man is scared he will lose you again," He explained. "Don't fight with him."
I looked at my feet. "I know I shouldn't lie," I stated. "I'd rather lie than hurt him with the truth."
"You need to tell him the truth about Alfie Solomons before someone gets hurt," He told me softly. "I don't know who you settled the deal but you need to tell Tommy."
