Shadow POV
Finally, it was Sunday.. The day Sonic had passed.. 1 year ago.. Although, I felt bad that I would not be able to attend. As I was getting ready, I looked at the note. Noon.. 12 o' clock.. I thought. I looked at the time, 11:24. I sighed. I still felt terrible for what had happened that day.. "It should've been me.." I whispered softly. I looked at the photo on my nightstand. Me and Sonic's, or rather, my, friends. I grinned, remembering all the things that have happened to me within the time lapse of just a year.
"Shadow! Hurry up! We're gonna be late!" Tails called, banging on my door once again. "I'm coming!" I yelled and stood up. I opened the door to see the small fox cub staring up at me, tapping his foot. "What? I'm ready, aren't I?" I said with a cheeky smile. "Took ya long enough." Tails grinned. "Now come on!" He grabbed my wrist and yanked me out of the door.
On our way to the cemetery, I saw the dirt path. I took out the note and looked at the path then the note, then where the cemetery was. I sighed. "Hey, buddy, I'm afraid that I can't go..I have to meet someone over there." I pointed ahead of the dirt road. "But don't worry, I visited him a bit early while you were sleeping. But, here, give this to him." I said as I pulled out a small plastic replica of the dark blue Chaos Emerald. Tails grinned, took the emerald replica and nodded. "I will." He said and ran off.
I walked down the dirt path for what felt like forever. On the way I had began to take off my suit, piece by piece. I did that because it had started to get a bit hot out, and it was unconfortable. After a very long time I found the clearing the note told me about. I walked up to the tree on the hill and looked around, but, no one was there. Odd. I shrugged and waited a bit longer.
Almost an hour had passed, and I started to get confused. "Where are they..?" I muttered to myself. I looked around again, but, still no one. I decided to sit down against the tree. After about another whole hour I started to get a bit tired. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep.
"Hello..?" I heard. "Hey, you awake? Shadow..?" I slowly opened my eyes to see a figure in front of me. They looked.. Familiar.. Really familiar. "Helloo! Anyone home?" The figure waved their hand in my face. I slapped them away and rubbed my eyes. "Ow, what up with the attitude?" They said "You meet a guy you haven't seen in a year and this is how you treat them?" With that, my eyes shot open, and widened as tears formed.
"No..it can't be.."

Sorry this chapter was so short, I was thinking of the ending while writing the beginning. 😅
