Jayden

I spent the next week trying to make up for lost time with Carla. I know no matter how much I cling onto her it won't replace what she felt at that time.

But then again I had to leave for her sake. The boss wanted to come into town and I couldn't risk  letting him know I'm so close to he's target.

If he ever found out I live next door to the girl he's been hunting for sixteen years. He would slowly torture her just so I could watch and feel the pain. Then finally kill me.

I can't let that happen to her. It's not her fault. You can't choose the family you're born into.

What's more devastating to think about is how she'll react when she finds out the truth. The truth about me and most importantly herself.

She would breakdown if she knew she ...

"Hey, dickhead". The sound of Harley's voice took me out of my thoughts.

"Well lovely day to you too miss Davis". I said sarcastically.

"Oh cut the crap. Carla may have forgiven you but don't expect the same from me". She said with the anger clearly written all over her face.

"I already apologized to you. So what's your damage".

"What's my damage?,are you kidding me?, Do you know how hard it was taking care of Carla when you disappeared". She said. I always knew Harley was motherly towards Carla but this was on a whole different level.

"I appreciate that but I'm here now and I'm certainly not leaving her again". I said trying to reassure her.

"Whatever you say just keep your word this time. I can't see Carla sad. I lo....". She cut herself off.

"Hayley I know okay, I know what you feel towards Carla. But it would be the best thing for both of you if you keep it to yourself".

"What exactly do you mean". She said trying to play dumb.

"Do I really need to spell it out. You're in love with your best friend and you know it'll ruin your friendship if you spill the beans".

"I know. But don't tell Carla okay. I don't want her to start hating me". Hayley said with a sad expression.

I got up and held her hand trying to comfort her.

"It's gonna be okay". I said in the most comforting voice I had.

.........

It was Friday night and I had something planned for Carla.

I wanted tonight to be special. Finally our first date.

I spent all day setting it up. I could have easily called people to do it. But I wanted it to be beyond special.

I had set up a tent right by the lake. I had it decorated with lights and the inside was breath taking.

The plan was to Netflix and chill. Maybe look at the stars. Anything as long as she was by myside.

Her mum wasn't home which made it easier for her to sneak out. But at the same time she couldn't leave Donny alone.

I wanted to ask Isa for help but I remembered she hated kids. She says that they are just little creepy creatures who like cartoons.

Yeah Isa is a nut job but she's still special to me.

I had called a babysitter to watch him, and jump out the window when he's mum gets back.

After giving the final instructions to the babysitter I took Carla over to my car.

I opened the door for her and I jogged over to the driver's side .

"Take this". I said while handing over a blindfold to her.

"What's this for exactly?" She asked.

"It's for making tea". I said then rolled my eyes.

"Why are you so mean"she said then looked away.

"Carla I'm sorry. The thing is I'm not a nice person. I'm actually  very mean. But you bring out my good side. The side I call weak. I only let my guard down with you and that makes you damn special". I said with all honesty.

"Okay okay enough with the poetry and help me with the blindfold". She said then giggled .

I gave her a kiss on her forehead before putting on the blindfold.

It was at least a 30 minute drive. And Carla kept acting like a child all through.

"Are we there yet". She kept saying till we arrived.

"We're here. But keep your blindfold on".

"Yes Theo". She said with a smirk. That was the first time she called me by my real name. It gave me a fussy feeling. But I shaked it off.

I got down and jogged over to her side. I opened the door and helped her down.

I led her over to the lake facing the tent. I then removed her blindfold.

"Oh my God. Jayden it's beautiful. I love it". She said with the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. She then turned around and hugged me.

"I'm glad you like it. Consider it our first date".

"Thank you so much, it's so beautiful". She said still gazing at the tent.

"C'mon let's go inside". I said grabbing her hand then taking her inside.

She walked in and I saw her eyes light up. She looked so beautiful along with the lights.

I took her over to where we were meant to sit I gestured for her to sit.

"Jayden,it's Soo nice here. I don't want to leave ever".she said all lovey dovey like.

"Don't worry about it. One day you're gonna be my wife and I'll make sure to light up the whole house for you".

"Wife huh? How sure are you we're gonna be together for that long".

"Don't worry about that. All that matters is that I love you". I saw her face turn red at my words.

"I love you too".she said. She finally said it back to me. Those words have never sounded so beautiful to me in all my life.
