Chapter 7 "Equalists"

To say I was surprised when Korra joined their team, would be a understatement. I hadn't expected it, but I was happy. I knew that it would give her a much needed break and give me more time to spend getting to know Bolin.

"So, you ready for our da... hang out, tonight?" Bolin said as he sent me a smile.

"Yea, I can't wait. So what do you have planned?" I asked softly.

"You will have to wait and find out my dear." He said as he took my hand and kissed it.

I let out a laugh and smiled as he walked away. Soon it was time for me to meet him and I bit my lip as I patiently waited for him. Soon an hour passed and I let out a sigh.

"Guess he isn't coming." I said softly.

"Waiting for someone?" A voice asked.

I quickly turned and my eyes went wide as I saw Amon.

"What are you doing here? I already said I'm not joining your cult."

"I simply wish to have you come and witness the Revelation." He said as he walked up to me.

"Revelation?"

"Come and you will learn all about it." He said as he held his hand out.

I gently took his hand and he led me to the warehouse. We made it inside and he had me stand to the side of the stage out of sight. Amon was soon announced and looked around.

"As you know, the Avatar has recently arrived in Republic City. And if she were here, she would tell you that bending brings balance to the world. But, she is wrong. The only thing bending has brought to the world, is suffering. It has been the cause of every war in every era. But that is about to change. I know you have been wondering, "What is the Revelation?" You are about to get your answer. Since the beginning of time, the spirits have acted as guardians of our world, and they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed humanity. That is why the spirits have chosen me to usher in a new era of balance. They have granted me a power that will make Equality a reality. The power to take a person's bending away. Permanently." Amon said calmly.

Amon looked over at me and then back at the crowd.

"Now, for a demonstration. Please welcome, Lightning Bolt Zolt." He said as he moved to the side.

An Equalist guard lead a tied up man onto the stage and I held my breath.

"Leader of the Triple Threat Triad, and one of the most notorious criminals in Republic City."

People started to boo him and I kept my eyes on him.

"Ah, boo yourself!" The man yelled.

"Zolt has amassed a fortune by extorting and abusing nonbenders. But his reign of terror is about to come to an end. Now, in the interest of fairness, I will give Zolt the chance to fight to keep his bending." He said as he had Zolt untied.

He moved away from Zolt and the Equalist guard pushed Zolt in the opposite direction.

"You're gonna regret doing that, pal." Zolt said as he took his stance.

I watched as Zolt attacked Amon and I held my breath. Amon dodged all of his attacks and made it to Zolt. He grabbed Zolt's wrist, and twists it around and away from him. The lighting crashed into the stage, before hitting the ceiling as Amon turned his hands further away. Amon grabs Zolt's neck and pulls his head back and moves his hand from Zolt's wrist to his forehead. Amon places his thumb in the center and I watch as Zolt's face contorted in fear. I look away and my eyes went wide as I see Bolin tied up.

"Wha... what did you do to me?" Zolt asked shocked.

"Your firebending is gone. Forever. The era of bending is over. A new era of Equality has begun!" Amon yelled.

I quickly walked over to Bolin and looked him over.

"Kari! You beautiful! Amazing woman! I could kiss you! Get me out of here." He begged.

"I don't know you did stand me up." I said playfully.

"I was kidnapped!"

I let out a small laugh and untied him.

"Let's go."

We moved to stand and I saw Amon walk towards us. I took a fighting stance and he stopped.

"I don't want to hurt you. Merely show you the truth." He said as he stared me down.

"Bolin get out of here. I'll meet up with you." I said as I glared at Amon.

"But-"

"Go! Now!" I snapped.

He nodded his head and took off running.

"Listen, I don't know what you want from me or why you seem so obsessed with me, but you went after one of my friends and now you're threatening Korra... so I hate to do this, but you are going down." I said as I charged at him.

He blocked my attacks and threw me against a wall.

"Do you not see the truth! You mean nothing to them! You are but a non bender to them!" He yelled.

"And you are a stalker!" I yelled as I kicked him away.

I kicked his feet from under him and moved to knock him out but felt electricity course through me. I let out a scream and watched as everything went dark.
