It had been 4 days since the whole Carrot and argument incident. Both Anne and Gilbert received detention for the rest of the week due to their outbursts, which neither enjoyed. Eventually it was Friday, the last day of detention with each other as well as Josie's party.

Anne hugged Diana goodbye, whispering that she would be straight round Josie's after detention was over.

"Goodbye Anne, See you later!", Diana walked out of the school building leaving her best friend outside the dreaded classroom, which she grew a hatred for as well. Anne waved Diana goodbye and made her way into the classroom, sitting in her usual spot next to the window.

A few minutes upon her arrival in came a raging Gilbert who looked like he was about to murder someone. He seated at the opposite of the classroom while leaning against his chair not paying any attention to his surroundings.

Anne wanted to inquire about his mood, but she thought against it considering these two have been going at each other throats for the past week. In school and detention. After a couple minutes and a few more students that walked in, in came Miss Stacey. Not that Anne wasn't happier that Miss Stacey was here instead of Mr Philips, she had to ask why not.

"Miss, where's Mr Philips, doesn't he hold this detention?" Anne asked.

"Yes he does, but he was unavailable to hold detention today", Miss Stacey informed Anne with a sweet smile on her face. Gilbert looked over at Anne and saw how happy she was that Mr Philips wasn't here. He couldn't help but smile at her smiling.

"So instead of doing schoolwork by yourself today, i thought you could get some homework done before the weekend begins and you will be in pairs.", Anne looked around for a partner, but she didn't know anyone in the room except for Gilbert Blythe.

Gilbert thought to himself that Anne probably didn't know anyone else in the room apart from him, so he decided to ask her if they wanted to partner up. He expected a no, but got the opposite.

"Yeah, sure. You can sit there if you want", Anne said not taking her eyes of her work. Gilbert sat down in the seat next to Anne and began taking out his homework.

Anne wondered if she should ask Gilbert why he was so angry. She knew it probably wasn't the best timing, but curiosity got the better of her inquisitive mind.

"Why are you angry?", Anne whispered just loud enough for Gilbert to hear. He had expected Anne wanted to ask this question, but was shocked to hear her actually asking it since he thought she didn't like him enough to be bothered.

Gilbert was angry because he was asked to put in a good word about Charlie to Anne. Gilbert had noticed that they were becoming friends throughout the week, which was good for Charlie, so why isn't he happy for his best friend. Gilbert pondered on this thought a lot, but brushed it off because Charlie means more to him some silly feelings.

"One of thoses days where everything pisses you off", Gilbert lied through his teeth, hoping Anne wouldn't notice. She did, but decided not to pry.

"I'm probably not the best person to be talking to if everything pisses you of Blythe", Anne laughed quietly along with Gilbert.

"Nah, you alright dreamer", Gilbert replied with a small smile forming in the corner of his mouth. Anne rolled her eyes at the nickname and carried on with her work, but wasn't very successful as it was gemonatry.

Gilbert noticed Anne struggling and felt the urge to help her even though she wouldn't want it. "Dreamer, do you need any help. Not telling you that you do, it's just a suggestion.", Gilbert smirked while holding his hands up in the air, looking like he was surrendering.
