Miss Stacey allowed the students to sleep in today, so naturally Anne got up at the crack of dawn. She quietly walked over to the window, opened it and climbed out onto the roof. Anne lay down looking up at the sky, not realising a figure approaching her.
"What you doing here Dreamer?", Gilbert sat down next to Anne. She sat up from her position to face him.
"Watching the sunrise. What about you Blythe?", Anne asked not taking her gaze of the sky, fearful that she would get lost in his eyes.
"Me too", he replied. Anne and Gilbert sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, watching the sunrise peacefully.
Everything seemed so quiet and free. Nothing could prepare the teens for what's to come. Nobody could imagine how much their lives would change in just a split second.
"So, you and Ruby's break up.", Anne broke the silence. She tried her best not to laugh as Anne found it incredibly funny how they broke up.
"Yeah.", Gilbert knew Anne wanted to laugh. He loves watching her laugh and smile with true happiness. "Just laugh", he smiled.
"What ever do you mean", Anne grinned, now facing towards Gilbert, staring into his hazel eyes.
"You know exactly what I mean Dreamer", Gilbert looked into Anne's ocean eyes. Her hair shone perfectly against the sunrise and her freckles looks Luke stars in the night sky.
Anne burst out in a laughter that filled the night air. Her laughter chimed in Gilbert's ears. Her laughter sounds like angels beating against his heart.
He laughed along with her, not breaking eye contact.
"I'm sorry Gil, but you two broke up during a game of truth or dare, like when does that happen.", Anne looked at the attractive boy sitting next to her.
Every time he looks at her, Anne's heart beats at a million miles an hour. She feels nervous when he's in her presence, but she always feels calm and safe as well. No word in the dictionary could describe her confusing feelings towards Gilbert Blythe.
"How are you and Charlie?", Gilbert asked. Although he knew nothing could happen between him and Anne because Charlie would never like that, but there was no harm in asking.
"Umm, well. I don't know. Things are weird between us. I've been thinking about breaking up with him.", Anne said. She looked towards the sky which was now clear.
Gilbert tried to hide the small smile forming in the corner of his mouth and attempt to act sad. "I'm sorry to hear that.",
"Yeah well. It's for the best. I think he's thinking about breaking up too", Anne was now admiring Gilbert's morning hair. Some people might assume his hair is messy and untameable, but Anne loves it.
"Why do you think that?", Gilbert asked.
"He's just been really distant, that's all. Although I didn't really mind. I don't think I like him in that way", Anne said.
"I know what you mean. I never felt that way with Ruby, she's just a really good friend. I'm glad she thought so too",Gilbert smiled.
