Nick
My birthday was spent in New York doing promotion for a single I released the week before. The day we came back from New York was only a matter of days before Demi was flying to London. She flew out on the 25th September and I followed along after with Peyton on the 27th to meet her in Manchester. The tour was incredible. I have never been so proud of her. After everything she's been through, she always seems to come back stronger.
The European leg of the tour finished on October 21st, leaving us a week at home until the rescheduled American leg started up again in November. That meant we could celebrate Halloween as a family, Demi's all-time favourite holiday. The day was incredible. We went around our neighbourhood, trick or treating with Peyton dressed as a little ghost and it was amazing. He loved it so much, he loved the attention he got from everyone.
The rescheduled American leg of Demi's tour was just as amazing as the European and before we knew it, it was November 22nd and Peyton, our little boy, was turning 2.
I was woken to the gentle sound of crying. My eyes fluttered open as I was filled with worry. I rolled over on the bed to find Demi leant back against the pillows, tears pouring down her cheeks as she scrolled through her phone.
"What are you crying for?"
"He's two. My baby's two" she lifted her hand to wipe at her cheeks as she turned her phone to face me. I couldn't help but to smile at the photo.
"God, I can't believe he was ever that little."
"I never gave him permission to grow up" I chuckled lightly causing Demi to send me a glare. "Before we know it, he's gonna be off to school and he isn't gonna need me anymore" I shuffled myself a little closer to her, my arm circling around her waist, my lips brushing against her chin.
"No matter how old he is, he's always going to need his mom" her eyes glanced down to burn into mine.
"You promise?"
"I promise, Demi" I chuckled lightly, leaning up to brush a peck to her lips. "I still need my mom at times."
"Aww, you little mommas boy" I rolled my eyes as Demi giggled.
-
"Happy birthday, Baby Boy" he squealed as Demi covered his entire face in kisses. "I can't believe that you're two" he giggled as he pulled himself from Demi's grip.
"I big boy."
"No, you're mommy's baby boy" he shook his head, squealing with laughter as Demi went back to covering his face in kisses. "What would mommy's baby boy like for breakfast?"
"Big boy" I chuckled as Peyton playfully argued back.
"Baby boy."
"No."
"What would you like for breakfast?"
"Chip cakes" translated to 'chocolate chip pancakes.'
"I'm sure daddy can make you some pancakes" Peyton locked his arms around Demi's neck and turned to me with a smile, a smile identical to Demi's. Both of their smiles own my heart. "And then we can open your presents" Peyton cheered his excitement.
"I better go and start some pancakes then" I leant down to share a kiss with Demi, Peyton sharing his disgust. "You don't like mommy and daddy kissing?"
"It gross" I chuckled lightly, sharing another kiss with Demi who giggled against my lips.
"I'll go and start breakfast; you get monster ready" she nodded up at me as I pulled my lips from hers.
"Do we need our diaper changing, Handsome?" I smiled to myself as I began from the room.
-
"Baby, who's here?" Peyton darted up from the floor and charged towards the living room window, squealing his excitement at the sight of Demi's parents and Maddie walking up the driveway.
"Nana" he instantly began towards the front door. His excitement caused Batman and Ella to start barking, dancing around Peyton's feet as he stood patiently at the front door.
"Oh, well isn't this a lovely welcome" Peyton giggled, diving on Dianna who chuckled to herself, locking him in a hug.
"Hi, Mom" she pressed a kiss to Demi's cheek as she pulled from the hug with Peyton allowing him the opportunity to greet Eddie and Maddie who smothered him in kisses.
"Hi, Baby" Demi locked her arms around Dianna in a hug. "We have some presents for him in the trunk but we thought it best to leave them till later when everyone gets here."
"Yeah, our living room was a mess this morning. We're gonna have him open presents after the cake" she nodded, smiling back at Peyton who was happily snuggled into Eddie.
"What time is everyone else getting here?"
"Joe's gone to pick up his parents from the airport, their flight was late so they ended up literally just getting here instead of last night. We said that they could go and rest but they wanted to come and see Peyton first" we glanced down as arms wrapped around Demi's legs. "You want to go and show nana, papi and auntie Maddie what you got for your birthday?" he nodded, reaching out for Dianna's hand.
"Mommy come."
"I'm coming, Handsome" she sent me a smile, pressing a kiss to my cheek before following behind Dianna and Peyton.
"You want to get the presents out the car, we can shove them in the garage?" Eddie nodded, pulling his keys from his pocket.
