Demi
"I-I need to push" the colour drained from Nick's face and when I say it drained, I mean that he literally turned white.
"Demi, please tell me you're shitting me. That's a joke, right?" I shook my head, clenching my teeth at the contraction. "Demi, you're not funny."
"I'm not trying to be funny, Nick" I spoke through clenched teeth as I gripped tightly onto the seat.
"I-I don't..." I arched my back and tried to calm my breathing as the contraction slowly died down. "What do I do?" there was an overwhelming urge to push as the next contraction built up on top of the previous but I tried to refrain from pushing.
"You need to get off at the next exit."
"Okay."
"Nick" I grabbed a hold of his hand and gave it a squeeze. "We're going to be fine" his eyes met mine and I could see the worry and panic swimming around in them. "We're going to be okay. We're all going to be okay" he gave my hand a squeeze. "The exit is coming up" Nick nodded and focused on the road as I tried to keep from pushing. As Nick pulled off the highway, I shimmied myself out of my leggings and panties and tried to keep myself as calm as possible. I've seen videos of people birthing their own babies in their cars on the way to the hospital, I just never thought that I would ever be one of those people. "Shit" I couldn't stop myself from pushing. I dropped my head back against the seat and readjusted myself slightly so I was a little more comfortable. Harper is coming and she's coming now. "You have really bad timing, Baby Girl" Nick grabbed my hand and I tightened my grip around it as I pushed.
"We're nearly there, Baby. I'm so proud of you" Nick pressed a kiss to the back of my hand and I glanced to him as I felt his tears against my hand.
"I'm proud of you too."
"I'm not doing anything" he lightly chuckled and I smiled through my pain.
"You-You're not-You're not panicking as much as I thought you would be" he gave my hand one final kiss.
"I'm panicking enough" I gave him a small smile, whimpering and focusing on my contraction, tears pouring down my cheeks. "You're doing so good, Baby."
"I can feel her head" I clenched my teeth together and tried to refrain from screaming out in pain.
"I can see the hospital, Baby. I'm stopping in front of ED and I'm going to grab help, okay?" I nodded, keeping my hand between my legs.
"I-I never thought..." I cut myself off and whimpered, Harper's head moving slightly in my hand as the contraction built up and I had no other choice but to push. Nick pulled in front of the emergency department, gave my temple a kiss before he climbed from the car and ran in to grab help. It felt like forever before Nick returned with help, a nurse yanking open the car door.
"Hi, Sweetheart. How are we doing?" I just whimpered my reply. "Okay, Demi. Can you turn towards me at all so that I can get a better look?" Nick slid back into the driver's seat.
"Come on, Baby" he helped me to turn and I leant back against him, my grip tightening on his hand.
"Okay, one more push and baby's head will be born" I kept my breathing steady as I pushed, trying so hard to keep myself from screaming out. "You're doing so good, Sweetheart" Nick pressed a kiss to my shoulder and wiped my hair off my sweaty forehead as I pushed.
"You're doing so good, Baby. I love you" I tightened my grip on his hand.
"I love you more."
"On your next contraction, Demi, I want you to pant and give me small little pushes, okay?"
"Is something wrong?" my eyes snapped open at Nick's question and I glanced down at the nurse.
"The cords around baby's neck so I need you to push really slowly for me so that I can remove it, okay?"
"Okay" tears poured down my cheeks out of fear. I can't lose my baby.
"Okay, pant for me, Demi" I started to pant and push. "Good girl. The cords removed and now, I just need you to push" I pushed, flopping back against Nick as the pressure disappeared from between my legs. It was a long two seconds before baby cried.
"Here's your little girl, Mommy" I sobbed as the screaming baby was handed to me.
"Hi, Baby Girl" the nurse wrapped a towel around her and began to rub her clean. "Hi, Beautiful."
"Hi, Princess" Nick gently cooed over my shoulder, his lips pressing numerous kisses to my sweaty temple.

"Well, you certainly know how to make a dramatic entrance, Miss Harper" I spoke softly as I cradled my newborn daughter against my chest. As soon as Harper was born, I was moved into the emergency department so that I could deliver the placenta. They took Harper to run all their normal checks and get her cleaned up, and Nick stayed at my side. It felt like forever before Harper was returned but she was perfect. She weighs 7lb 2oz and is all around amazing.
"I certainly didn't think her birth would be this dramatic" I lightly giggled as I glanced to Nick who was sat in the chair beside the bed, his hand resting on my thigh.
"You still think she looks like a Harper?"
"She's gorgeous, that's what she is, and she has her mama's beautiful chin" I rolled my eyes as he lightly chuckled.
"I just can't believe she's finally here" Nick pressed a kiss to my temple. "Happy anniversary, Baby."
"Best anniversary present ever."
