Nick

I managed to get the day of the ultrasound off from filming but I decided to keep it a secret so Demi is currently pissed with me because she thinks that I can't make it. It'll be worth it though when I finally get to see her face. I haven't spoken to Demi in a couple days because she's refused to answer my calls and she doesn't reply to my texts. I only know that she's okay because I've been in constant contact with Sirah who is the only other person who knows that Demi's pregnant. Demi asked Sirah to attend the appointment with her when she realised that I wasn't going to be able to make it. I'm thankful that she has friends so close by to help her out while I'm away.

The plane landed in LA and I tried to remain as incognito as possible as I followed my security guard towards the car. The appointment is at 11 and I've planned to meet Demi in the examination room that she'll be using. I contacted the maternity department and they were thankfully able to make those arrangements, it was made a lot easier with the fact that I'm famous. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as I eagerly sat in the examination room, looking around at all the pregnancy posters and baby photos stuck to the walls. I can't wait to witness another pregnancy with Demi. I can't wait to watch her grow with our baby. I can't wait to sing to her tummy. I just can't wait to have another son or maybe even a daughter.

I looked up at the door as it opened, my heart hammering against my chest as Demi stepped into the room with Dr James following behind her. It took her a moment to realise that I was standing there but the moment that she did, she froze. Her hands flew up to cover her mouth and tears began their journey down her cheeks.

"Nick?"

"Hi, Baby" I pushed myself up to stand as she slowly walked towards me. I half expected her to slap me because I lied so I was pleasantly surprised when her arms locked around my neck and she pressed herself against me.

"I missed you" I wrapped my arms around her waist and nodded as I nuzzled my face into her neck.

"I missed you too, Gorgeous."

"What are you doing here?" she pulled away from the hug and I smiled down at her as I stroked a strand of hair behind her ear and gently wiped at her cheeks.

"I lied. I was always able to come. I just wanted to surprise you" I chuckled as she lightly hit my chest.

"I was pissed at you. I ignored you for no reason and now I feel like a bitch" I shook my head and continued to chuckle, cupping her face in my hands as I pressed a kiss to her lips. "Now, I understand why Sirah made up some shitty excuse to why she couldn't come in."

"Yeah, I had to check up on you somehow" she rolled her eyes but sent me a brief pout which I pressed a gentle kiss too. "I love you. Now, let's check up on our little gummy bear" a wide smile spread across my face which Demi mirrored as she nodded her agreement.

"Alright, Demi. Are we ready?" Demi turned to Dr James with a nod, wiping briefly at her cheeks as she sniffled. I couldn't help but to chuckle as I ran my hand along her waist and pressed a kiss to the back of her head. "We'll check your weight while you're standing and then we'll get to checking up on baby, alright?" Demi nodded, heading towards the scales that sat by the wall. I watched with a wide smile as Demi climbed onto the scales, a small smile settled on her face, tears still pouring down her cheeks. "Okay, Demi. That's perfect" she climbed off the scales and headed straight towards me so that she could climb up onto the bed. "You had any morning sickness at all, Demi?"

"Yeah, I've been having it on and off for like the past week. Peyton's been a big help though."

"How old is Peyton now?"

"He's going to be 3 at the end of November."

"Oh, wow" I chuckled, smiling down at Demi, my hand wrapping around hers as she leant back against the bed.

"Yeah, he's growing up far too fast."

"That's what children do" I used the pad of my thumb to wipe at Demi's tear stained cheeks. "Alright, let's check up on baby" Demi lifted her shirt up to reveal her tummy. I briefly met her gaze and I could see fear swimming around in the eyes I fell so hard for. I leant down to press a kiss to her cheek causing her mouth to ever so slightly tug at the corners. "The gel shouldn't be too cold, Demi" Dr James squirted the gel onto her stomach and pressed the probe into her lower tummy until a gentle thumping filled the room. "That's baby's heartbeat, Demi" Demi's grip on my hand tightened, and I glanced at her to see tears pouring down her cheeks. "And here's baby."

"He looks like a little mover

"He looks like a little mover."

"He?" I glanced down at Demi who nodded up at me.

"I bet you 50bucks" I rolled my eyes and shook my head as she lightly giggled.

"Baby's perfect, Demi" I watched as a hint of sadness flashed through her eyes and I knew instantly what was going through her head.

"You said that last time and I ended up losing it" I glanced up at Dr James who sent us a sympathetic smile.

"I know, Demi, unfortunately there are some things that we can't stop. I couldn't have predicted that that would have happened. I can't promise that nothing won't happen to this baby, all I can promise right now is that baby is perfect" I gave Demi's hand a squeeze as she sniffled and nodded, lifting her free hand up to wipe at her cheeks. I glanced back over at the monitor, silently praying that this baby would make it. I don't know how losing another baby will mentally affect Demi.
