I know, I know, the prompt sounds stupid but it felt like it worked. I'll gladly take suggestions if you have any!
Castiel cursed someone out, almost fell asleep, and nearly crashed into a deer, all on the way home from work. It had been the worst day he'd had there in months, and he couldn't tell why.
He had walked in and gotten and head start on his patient charts for the day. However, from his first patient, he grew increasingly irritated until he almost exploded at his nurse for breathing too loud. Cue the disaster of going home.
As soon as Cas walked in the door, scents of rosemary and garlic reached his nose. He walked into the kitchen, and Dean turned to greet him.
"Hey, Cas! Wait, what's wrong?" Dean asked, concerned.
Cas suppressed a smile. He loved that Dean could tell something was wrong with one glance.
He cast his eyes to the ground, suddenly embarrassed at his attitude throughout the day. "Bad day."
Dean blew out a breath. "Will garlic rosemary chicken legs make it better?" Dean was owner of his own restaurant in the city.
Cas nodded, his day had gotten considerably better the second he walked through the door. "I was just...irritated, short tempered."
Dean looked at him over the counter. "You're allowed to have a bad day, Angel."
Castiel smiled sadly at Dean. "I know, but I never do. You know I nearly snapped at Mackenzie for breathing? I don't know what got into me today."
Dean walked around the counter to wrap him in a hug. He kissed the top of Cas's head and whispered, "Everyone gets bad days. It's okay." He leaned back and looked into Cas's eyes. "Do you want me to sing Bad Day?" He asked, dead serious. "Be Alright? Odds Are?"
Cas giggled. "It's okay, Dean, you don't have to sing."
"Ah but I want to sing for my husband. It cheers you up, and that makes me happy." He reaches down and took Cas's hands into his own. "Any song, any some you want, I'll sing it."
Cas stared up into Dean's eyes. "Really? Any song? For me?"
Dean playfully rolled his eyes. "Yes for you. I love you."
"I love you too. Do you thing maybe you could try to sing I Won't Give Up? By Jason Mraz?" Cas whispered, nervous Dean would shoot it down.
On the contrary, Dean's eyes lit up. "I love that song! And I'd love to try and sing it for you, so stop looking like I'm about to make fun of it." Dean gently teased him.
Cas nodded while Dean guided him toward the couch, where they sat down, Castiel in Dean's arms.
When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well, there's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?
Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up...
Dean sang quietly to him, happy that he was able to cheer Cas up.
Castiel, meanwhile, was contently curled up against Dean's chest, happy to listen to his amazing voice. He thought about how well the song described their relationship.
Once Dean finished, he leaned up and whispered, "Ready for dinner?"
Cas nodded. "I love you so much, thank you, Dean."
"Anytime, Angel. Any song you want, just ask, okay? I love you too, though I'll love you more after we eat." Dean responded, smiling huge.
I'm a bit sad that I finished the list, but again, I'll take suggestions for more if you want. This will hopefully give me time to work on my Sabriel book...:)
