I'm gonna say right now, this is not an original idea, I see it all the time on tiktok and stuff, but I felt like writing a oneshot about it. Based on 18 by One Direction....more like one lyric but whatever.

Gabriel POV

Gabriel stared longingly into the mirror. Tonight was Sam's bachelor party, and Gabriel was seriously considering feigning sickness to get out of it. But Sam was his best friend...and crush.

Gabriel and Sam had become friends during high school, but Gabriel hadn't realized his feelings until they were apart for college, maybe age 18? And he'd been silently suffering ever since. His heart almost cracked in two when Sam brought home Ruby after their freshman year.

He did watch Sam fall in love, but what he really saw was Ruby's endless manipulation of Sam. She was a terrible person, and Gabriel didn't know her motives with Sam but he did know the were dishonest and horrid. However, every time Gabriel tried to expose Ruby, Sam either jumped to her defense, change the subject, or deflected everything he said for some reason. He brought it up almost weekly, and now Ruby was going to marry Sam tomorrow. The thought made him sick.

He wanted desperately to show Sam Ruby's true colors, but Sam craved happiness and somehow Ruby gave that to him. He craved comfort and surprisingly that's where he found it. Sam didn't want to see Ruby's other side, and Gabriel felt helpless because he couldn't make him see it.

By the time Gabriel was done with his self-pity session, he was dressed and ready to go to the party, however much pain it would cause him.

Sam's POV

Sam stared happily into the mirror. Tonight was his bachelor party and tomorrow was his wedding, but his happiness felt strangely fake, and if he was convincing himself that he was happy, without actually feeling it. He wrote his thoughts off as nerves and quickly got dressed for the party.

He arrived to the hotel lobby to find Gabriel staring at his hands, not saying a word to anyone in there.

"Hey, Gabe, what's wrong?"

Gabriel looked up at him in surprise. "Oh, nothing! Just waiting for you." He said with a smile, however fake.

"Oh, okay." Sam responded. "I'm just nervous. Everything seems like it's wrong or about to be wrong." He admitted.

Gabriel frowned, but inwardly, he was celebrating. Maybe he was finally coming to his senses! "I'm sure there's no reason to worry." He then got up and started to walk away, but Sam grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

"What if I made the wrong decision?" Sam's eyes seemed to search Gabriel's as if he wanted a sign that it was wrong. As if he wanted a reason to back out.

Gabriel cursed himself to hell and back as he said, "You didn't. You love Ruby. It's normal to get cold feet, but Sam, don't back out now. I know you'd never forgive yourself."

Sam frowned, but seemed to agree with Gabriel. "Thanks," he sighed. "I better get back to my room. Ruby hired someone to 'take care' of me. As if I can't get ready for my own wedding." He scoffed.

Gabriel laughed and smirked a little. "Maybe she's right." He teased playfully, feeling better.

Sam smiled wide and turned and walked away with a bit of a bounce in his step, as if Gabriel had actually cheered him up. He promised himself that he would not mess this up for him. Sam loved Ruby. She made him happy, however terrible she was.

Gabriel gritted his teeth as he strode down the aisle, trying to maintain a cheerful mask as he escorted Jo down the aisle. The pain in his heart grew with every step.

Sam willed himself into the happy place he had been ever since getting with Ruby. He loved her. A lot. Right?

Ruby smirked into the mirror. Her plan was working perfectly. Everything the Winchesters had was about to be hers. Especially when Sam had an "accident" in about three and a half weeks, returning from the honeymoon.

Sam felt tears prick his eyes as he saw Ruby appear. She was beautiful. And about to be his wife. He waited for the rush of happiness to come as he thought about it, but it never did.

In fact it felt wrong. He glanced as Gabriel, whose impenetrable mask was up in full effect. To anyone else, he appeared happy, to Sam he appear in pain.

"Do you take this woman to be your bride?"

Sam looked into Ruby's eyes, searching for the woman he loved, but her smile looked as fake as his felt. "I do." The words were out before he knew what happened.

"And Ruby, do you take this man to be your husband."

"I do." She said it too quickly, as it she wanted it to be done before something happened. What could happen?

"Any objections? Speak now or forever hold your peace."

Gabriel felt his self control shatter and Sam looked around, almost pleading someone to say something as Ruby dared someone to speak up.

"I have loved you since we were eighteen." Gasps echoed around the courtyard. "Long before we both thought the same thing."

Sam stared back, shocked speechless.

Gabriel realized the effect of what he had done. Things would never be the same.

"Really?" Sam asked him, hope shining in his eyes, willing it to be true.

"Yes."

Good? Bad? Not my idea. Not original. Just adapted to my ship.
