Okay so this is the last chapter from Mary's perspective, in a way.
"Dean! Sam! Grab what you can and run!" Mary shouted at her two children. They were caught in the middle of another assassination attempt-the first one in twelve years. The last one was right before she became pregnant with Sam, but he didn't know. Dean had been with his Uncle Bobby, but he was aware of the last attempts.
Mary turned and shouted for John before racing to her room and grabbing whatever she could, which included her family album, some clothes, and her savings box.
She turned around and screamed, "John!" He was on the floor, unconscious or dead, but burning all the same. She wanted desperately to hug him one last time, but she knew exactly what would come to her should she decide to do so.
Mary glanced out the window and saw Sam and Dean standing far from the house, staring blankly at the front door. She knew they were waiting for her or John to appear. Dean wrapped his arm around Sam and leaned over, probably to whisper something to the small boy to comfort him.
A tear rolled down her cheek as she made the hardest decision she ever had or ever would. To leave them and restart her life alone. "I love you both. More than anything," she whispered quietly, and turned away. She started running for the back door, or what was left of it, so she could hide in the woods.
Four Years Later
Silent tears flowed down Mary's face as she listened to her sons' conversation.
She held back a sob as she heard what Sam's was saying. "...They tau-taught you to drive, and were there for your first dance, and kiss, and date, and first day of middle school, and high school..." Mary had been looking out for them from the shadows, staying off the grid and never showing her face. It pained her each and every day, but she was doing what she thought was best for her children.
She stood there a little longer, still crying as she listened to their conversation. As it came to an end, and she turned to leave to go back to her small tent, she tripped and stumbled over a branch.
"Who's there?!" She heard Dean shout out, and started running as fast as she could. "Hey come back!" Mary heard him start after her. She thought even Sam had started running too.
"Gotcha!" Dean had caught up, and tackled her around the waist, so they were now lying on the ground.
Mary groaned as she sat up. "Why?" Was all she said.
"Why?! Lady you were spying on us! I seen enough in my life to know that's not good. We both have."
Dean responded angrily."We?" She asked.
"Yes we! Me and my brother. Now what the hell were you doing?!" He shouted. Luckily they were in an empty part of the grounds.
"Don't you recognize me, Dean?" Mary felt the tears returning.
"How the fu-...Mom?" She saw a spark of recognition in Dean's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by anger. And she thought she saw resentment there too.
She smiled sadly at him. And Sam who was now standing protectively next to Dean. "Yes. My you both grew to be wonderful. Hardworking and strong."
Sam spluttered, "Wh-what? How do you know? Unless..." she could see the wheels turning. "You've been spying on us since the fire. I knew there was something off about that whole camper deal," he suddenly got a look in his eyes that Mary wasn't so sure that she liked. "You're alive. You have been this whole time. And you knew we survived. You've been around for all of it! And you never once showed you're face! What kind of crap parent does that, huh?" Sam went off, and would've continued had Dean not slapped a hand over his mouth and turned him so they were facing each other.
"Shhh Sammy. Before you go off, we need to know why. Then you can have your time." He turned his cold eyes back on Mary, who looked down at her hands in shame. "Well? Why." Dean spat out.
Mary sobbed. "I-I was protecting you. The assassination attempt? I figured if I went off the grid, you'd be safe," she reached out to try and grab their hands, but Dean swatted it away. Sam followed his example.
"So you left us alone? At fifteen and eleven? To fend for ourselves? Wow. You're a shit parent." Dean responded harshly.
Mary regained a fraction of her composure. "Now you may have gone these years parentless, but I'm still your mother!" she shouted.
"No," Dean ground out. "You're not. You're-"
"Yes I am!" Mary interrupted. "And you were better off when I left you. You didn't have a price on your heads."
Dean laughed. "No, you're right. We were so much better off with no parents. School's not important. Neither is having money. You're right. We were safer in the street until I got the camper. You're right. Wondering if we'll eat at all the next day is better. Having Sam work two jobs is better. Don't bother asking me. You're the parent right? You're always correct?" He growled. "You're no parent. A mother would have stayed with her children, her eleven year old child, instead of abandoning them and then spying for four years! Cmon Sammy." He grabbed Sam by the shoulder, and they began walking away, leaving Mary a sobbing mess in the middle of nowhere.
"Wait! Please I'm your mother." She pleaded.
"No! You're not! And you're insane for thinking you helped us!" Sam called back. "And if you listened to everything I said, you would know how much you missed, or should I say skipped out on! Goodbye. Forever." He finished.
"I love you both." Mary whimpered, realizing that they no longer cared, and she had messed up. She messed everything up and would never be able to fix it. "Goodbye."
1000 words. It kinda sucked because I had no plan for it, but I just kinda rolled with wherever it went. No editing.
