We don't deserve the Night
The one who shared magic
When we were young
Allowed to believe in those things
Before we 'grew up'
And the Night could no longer be our friend

Even then the Night grew with us
Changed to accommodate our needs
Became the one who harbors our secrets
Who takes the blame
Of those late-night bad thoughts
Without a word against us
Because without a doubt
The Night would always be there

Yet we often sleep through the Night's care
Unaware of the true nature
Of which we once understood
No
We don't deserve the Night
But maybe one day we again could
