Thalleous's Secret

Arthulilia had just spent an entire day training the Ardoni who hadn't learned how to use a Song and she was exhausted. but she still had work to do. Aurelious has specifically asked her to interigate Achillean to find a weakness of Ingressus. but she was going to interrigate him on different matters:

why did Tygren previously say he was going to take everything from Thalleous's family when the only family Thalleous had was his older twin brother?

Arthulilia went to the quarters that Achillean was staying and knocked on the door. there was a few moments of silence before Achillean came to the door. he looked tired as ever and knew he needed rest.

"Tidesinger, do you happen to know anything about Thalleous that we don't? because if i recall from one of his accounts, he said that Tygren was heard saying he'd take away everything from Thalleous's family just for him to feel pain. but the only family he has is Galleous." Arthulilia asked.

"and?" Achillean raised an eyebrow.

"i was wondering if he had other family other than Galleous. Tygren wouldn't say that unless he means it and that means he'd take Galleous from Thalleous but Thalleous was killed. how does it add up?" Arthulilia pointed out.

Achillean looked both ways as if to check if the coast was clear. satisfied, he beckoned for the young Sendarian to come into his home. Arthulilia followed him to the main room and leaned against a post while Achillean sat in a chair in front of the built in fireplace.

"i promised him i wouldn't tell anyone about this, but seeing that he's dead and Tygren won't stop at anything, i'll tell you. Thalleous, as everyone knew, was always travelling. what they didn't know was that he had a wife in the War." Achillean said without looking away from the fire.

Arthulilia leaned forward, eager to learn what she didn't know about the great warrior.

"his wife was called Rani, and she was as blue as a bluebell and sweet as honey. she was a very kind Sendarian but when it came to her family being in harms way, she'd be as nasty as an undead zombie or an angry wolf. that was what Thalleous loved about her."

"sounds like any mother would." Arthulilia muttered.

"3 days before the War started, she told him she was expecting something. when asked, she said it would have to wait in fear of the Voltaris attacking her." Achillean sighed.

Arthulilia looked at Achillean. she'd known that Achillean knew Thalleous well, but not this well that he knew the Sendarian like a brother.

"9 months passed and the war looked ugly. Thalleous lost all contact with Rani and was frantic. he hadn't heard from her in those 9 months and was afraid that Deathsinger had gotten to her. so he went back to Sendaria to find his home in flames. he dragged out Rani and realised she was trying to give him something." Achillean said grimly.

Arthulilia ran through every possible items that could have been worth handing the Sendarian at the time, something for him to keep in memory of his beloved wife.

"he took it and realised what she had been expecting. in her arms had been a newborn Sendarian, however he was too young to take up the Sendarian custom ceremony to welcome the newborn into the Clan. Just before Rani passed, she told him to keep his son safe." Achillean sighed sadly.

"hold up. he has a SON?! who is it?" Arthulilia stopped leaning on her post and walked towards Achillean.

"i only saw the child once, after Thalleous got back. he told me what had happened and told me to keep it a secret or the Voltaris would get the boy. Thalleous and i took the newborn to Ataraxia to take care of and Galleous asked Thalleous who's baby it was. Thalleous and i had agreed to tell everyone else that the baby had been rescued in a far village of Nestoria. but the whole village had been razed and there was nothing for the baby to return to." Achillean responded.

"that would explain the whisper i've heard before. sounded like 'Who's Child is this?' but how many children did he rescue that day?" Arthulilia asked.

"we brought back 8 babies. one was his own. so buried deep within those 3 babies is that same whisper." Achillean said, looking up at the young Sendarian standing behind him.

"it could be anyone! and Tygren could find out via Deathsinger! we have to find that child. how old would he be?" Arthulilia asked.

"he'd be a young Adult to a young Teenager. could be anyone, as you said." Achillean stood up and faced the young warrior.

"can you remember the markings? you may have seen this child once but for you that was only a few years ago... or months." Arthulilia pressed.

"i need a parchment, so i can draw the actual child. and a quill." Achillean left the room to get the items.

1 hour later, Achillean came back with an image of Thalleous's baby. Arthulilia looked at it and recognised the markings at once. and froze.

"that's the baby. what's wrong?" Achillean asked the frozen Sendarian.

Arthulilia looked up at the Nestorian warrior and stared.

"i know who this is."
