Jayden's POV

"Are you nervous, man?" Adam asks me with a smirk on his face.

"Nah, I don't think that I have a soulmate to be honest. All I do is play girls. I'm not what you would call "soulmate material"' I chuckle a little when answering.

It's about to be midnight. My 18th birthday is in 5 minutes and I'm supposed to be getting the initials of my soulmate on my wrist. I honestly couldn't care less about this whole thing. It's just a stupid tradition if you ask me.

I look at the clock. It reads 11:59 PM. "Just one more minute" I think while rolling my eyes.

But the more I think about it, the more nervous I feel. "Wait, why do I even care?" I take a deep breath.

"Dude, it's time." Ryan says a little excitedly.

I roll my eyes at him. "Why do you even care?"

He frowns a little before answering, "I just think you're wrong about you not being the soulmate type, man. I bet you have one, but you're just scared."

I punch him on the arm which earns me an "ow!" Ryan can get on my nerves at times.

"Just take a look Jayden." Adam urges me on.

I give him an annoyed look before looking down at my wrist. At first there's nothing there, but when I'm about to tell them I told them so, two letters appear. It surprises me at first, but I become confused when I realize I don't know anyone with these initials. I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion.

"What is it?" Adam and Ryan ask in unison.

Two months later

Emery's POV

My alarm blares in my ear. I groan hitting it off of my bedside table. School has been going on for two months now and I'm still not getting into a good sleep routine. It's torture, but I get up and stretch. I've never missed a single day of school ever. I even tried going when I was sick back in middle school, but my mom dragged me back home. I still got the work from my teachers and did it, though. That's just the kind of person I am.

I trudge to my bathroom that's connected to my bedroom and hop in the shower. I stand under the shower head and let the water run over my tight muscles from having a bad night sleep. I stand there for a few minutes before I continue showering. I finish, turn off the water and hop out before wrapping the towel around my body. I head into my bedroom to get dressed, just your average skinny jeans and my favorite faded gray Star Wars t-shirt. It's my usual "style" and has been since 8th grade.

I brush my long blonde hair and let it air dry while applying some mascara and putting on my favorite pair of Vans. My hair dries pretty fast since it's not exactly thick but not thin either, and it's naturally straight.

I grab my backpack and run downstairs to get some breakfast. When I get down the stairs, I see my parents are already up and sitting at the dining table eating breakfast and reading the newspaper. I don't know why they still get the newspaper when they could just use a tablet or their phones to access the news. I roll my eyes and smile a little at the thought.

"Good morning sweetie" my mom mumbles to me over her newspaper.

"Morning mom. Morning dad" I say back while putting a pop tart in the toaster for a quick breakfast.

"Sleep well honey?" my dad puts down his newspaper and looks at me.

"Not really, but I'll be fine." I smile reassuringly at them both.

My pop tart pops up and I grab it then give both of my parents a kiss bye.

"Have a good day mom and dad." I yell while running out of the door to my car.
