chapter 11

jj. there he was. surfing away the pain. just like caroline had come to do.

she walked towards the water and saw a pair of shoes and a shirt sitting on the sand. she took off her shirt. well jj's shirt. and set it down by his stuff. she picked up her board and walked out to the water. it was rushing over her feet as the waves crashed. it wasn't cold, which was nice, but it wasn't hot either. the water always felt refreshing. she got on her board and started paddling out towards jj. when she finally reached him she sat on her board with both legs on either side of the board.
"...hey" she finally said.

he didn't respond, just nodded his head. they both sat there in silence until suddenly jj started speaking.
"why'd you do it? i thought you loved me. and-and you had sex with rafe? how could you? caroline...you have no idea how much it hurts to hear that the person you love, is cheating on you." he said softly not making eye contact with her.
"jj, he kissed me. he told me that we needed to talk and then he-he kissed me and i pulled away and told him no. i didn't want it. and then i ran out of his house, i guess he was just mad that i didn't like him and posted that on snapchat."
"wait. so you didn't have sex?"
"no! hell no!"
"a-and he kissed you? and you pulled away?"
"yes jj! i swear to god! i don't like rafe and i love you jj! i always have..."
"thank god!" he yelled hoping off his board and swimming over to caroline. he pulled her off her surf board and down into the water. he brought her into an embrace and then looked into her eyes.

their eyes both lingered on each other and then jj glanced down at her lips. he shoved his lips to hers and they moved with rhythm. once they were both begging for air they pulled apart and stared at her each other.
"i love you caroline." jj finally spoke
"i love you too jj. and i always will."
"ok love bug, one more wave and let's go back."
"what?? i just got here!" caroline complained.
"baby, it's like 1 o'clock in the morning." he sighed.
"fine." she finally agreed.

the two both caught great waves and then headed back to the shore. as they were putting on their clothes caroline asked jj "did you walk all the way here?"
"yes, yes i did."
"oh my god! holy shit!" she laughed.
"hey! i wanted to surf." he said putting his hands up in a 'whatever' action. she giggled at him.
"you're crazy jj maybank." she said eyes sparkling.
"i'm only crazy for you." he winked. she playfully punched his shoulder and started walking back up to the forest.

"stay at my house tonight." caroline said looking at him with puppy dog eyes.
"how can i resist that look." he responded looking down at her.
"you can't." caroline smiled.

the two walked the way back to caroline's house and snuck in through the front door. but instead of heading up the stairs she led him to the back door. jj quietly shut the door behind him.
"what are we doing?" he whispered.
"if we take a shower my dad will wake up. and i'm not letting you sleep in my bed without a shower, so we are sleeping outside."
he just laughed. "whatever you say princess." she walked over to a treehouse where the two had great memories.
"holy shit. i haven't been up here in years." he said climbing the tree.
"i know it's been a while since we've had a sleepover up here aye?" caroline laughed.

she was trying to figure out how to open to door to the tree house and she was struggling. jj on the other hand was enjoying the view from underneath her.
"god damn. how the fuck does this open?" she said getting mad.
"i could stay here all night long. i have a great view. you aren't wearing anything but a bathing suit so all that ass is in my face. it's all i can do to not slap it right now." he chuckled.
"jj i swear to god." caroline said. finally she got the door undone and climbed into the tree house. jj right behind her.

it was still set up the same as it always was, so there was blankets and pillows and decorations. caroline walked over to the blankets and sat down. jj stood up and smacked his head on the top of the room.
"fuck!" he said.
"i guess you're not as short as you used to be." caroline laughed.
"i guess not." he said rubbing his head.

the two were quite until caroline broke the silence.
"we have a lot of good memories in this tree house."
"we sure do. like when we would steal beers from your fridge and come up here drink them in like 7th grade." jj said.
caroline laughed. "yea! we thought we were so cool."
"or when we had our first kiss." jj brought up.
"oh yea. you said that we should do it so we have "experience"." she said with a smile on her face.
"i'm gonna be honest. i just wanted to kiss you." jj said laughing.
"oh my god!" caroline yelled jumping on top of him straddling him.

the two looked at each other for like 20 seconds without saying anything, just staring at each other.
"but hey, who would have guessed that now i get to kiss you whenever i want." he said with a childish grin on his face.
"oh yeah?" she questioned.
"yeah." he leaned in kissing her lips passionately.

the two laid there for a while and began slowly drifting off to sleep.
"you do realize, that i'm gonna kick rafes ass tomorrow right?" jj said turning to her.
"oh i know." she smiled at him.

"i know i say this a lot, but caroline, you are beautiful." jj said.
"thank you." she said nuzzling her head into his neck.
"i love you princess."
"i love you too." the two dozed off to sleep in each other's arms.
