Eve-Anne sat on a lonely bench, drifting off into some sort of sleepy haze. She was leaning on the side of the arm of the bench, her hair falling over her face gently.
There was a slight shining in her empty eyes, from the glittery moon. Her eyelids fluttered a little as she attempted to pull herself back into the world of the awake, but the weight on her eyes just seemed to grow and grow.
She supposed only 5 minutes of sleep was okay.
"Stop it!" There was an extremely familiar voice yelling a little down the road. There was the echo of a gunshot and screaming, causing Eve-Anne to raise an eyebrow.
She stood, a little hesitantly. Was it worth it? There wasn't much else going on. She thought she might as well.
Following the lamp lighted streets, Eve-Anne treaded down the cobble without so much as the tapping of her shoes, or her clouded breaths to betray her presence. . She slid silently into a doorway and watched.
There were two people. A young girl knelt on the floor, pushed against the wall of a building. Her hair was long, tied in to ponytails by the looks of it.
She could hear the fear, but her thoughts were fast. Too fast.
Talya. It had to be. Only one person was that fast.
People were looking out of their windows. Though the light wasn't strong enough to bring definition to her face if she stayed away from the street lights.
She pulled a scarf out of her bag and wrapped it over her head like a shawl.
Quickly, as she extended her arm slightly, she stepped out of her hiding place and with a swift flick of her wrist sent the man crashing into the wall.
Talya raised her head, as Eve-Anne gripped her arm and pulled her up.
She dragged her along, until Talya pulled away.
"What-Why? Who even-" She said as she swept her hair away from her face. "I don't-"
Eve-Anne grabbed her arm, and dragged her again.
"You see that woman, the one in that window behind you." Eve-Anne asked, "She phoned the police 2 minutes ago, leaving them about 7 minutes to run here, or walk, since the cars have broken down and it's late at night."
Talya remained quiet, though her thoughts were a terrible mess. Not surprising really.
Finally she responded, "I'm not… I was looking for you." She said in a slight daze.
"So hurry up and stop being so childish." Eve-Anne practically ignored her, and stormed along.
"Why did you help me?" She questioned, as she hurried up to Eve-Anne.
"You have something I need." She replied, rolling her eyes a little. "Do you have to keep asking questions?"
"Yes. Did you… Kill him?" Talya looked back down the alley. The man was still on the floor.
"You haven't seen anything yet." Eve-Anne muttered as she practically raced down the alley.
"What? You're that murderer aren't you?" She said. She was starting to feel anxious.
"No. Why would you think that?" Eve-Anne said as she fought a slight laugh away.
For most things, Talya wouldn't report it, but serial murder was on the list of things she would. This could need a little bit of persuasion though.
Eve-Anne reached towards the back of her neck and tapped it.
"You're right. I don't know why I'd think that." Talya rubbed her head, slightly confused. "I won't tell anyone. I know you'll probably smash my head open."
"Good joke." Eve-Anne rolled her eyes again. "Why did they want you anyway?"
Talya looked shocked for a moment as she rubbed a bloody wound on her head.
"I'm sorry. So sorry!" She exclaimed. "They want something from you! I don't know what!"
"And you just thought it was good to bring this up?" Eve-Anne turned around, and blocked Talya's way. She stopped. There was a nagging pit in her stomach.
She pushed Talya into a wall with her ability, as a bullet barely skimmed her head.
Within the second, Talya had gone in a flurry of electricity, and had ran over to the gunman. She had her hands around his neck, ready to snap it, but she couldn't, she was frozen in a mix of fear and hesitation.
"Talya. Get out of here!" Eve-Anne said with a mixture of urgency and calmness.
Talya looked at her with confusion, but with her usual lightning speed she sped off, disappearing from sight in less than a second.
"I'll give you one chance. Leave." Eve-Anne said as flicked her wrist, pulling a glass shard into her hand from a nearby bin.
The thug just stared, and Eve-Anne rolled her eyes again.
She sighed, "Oh alright then."
The man ran at her and swung what looked like a switchblade at her. He was clearly aiming for non-vital parts. They wanted her more or less alive.
Eve-Anne ducked and swung the shard into his leg. She pushed him onto the ground, and put his hand on the wound.
He whimpered.
"You might want to keep pressure on that." Eve-Anne nodded at the wound.
"You want to know why I prefer to use weapons? I could kill you from a mile away and make it look like an accident, but I don't do that. Do you know why? Because it's not as fun." She taunted, as the thug winced.
"Who-- are you?" He muttered.
"You should know."
"You should be scared." He muttered, as he released his pressure from the wound, sending a stream of blood everywhere.
In the chaos, a sharp pain grew in Eve-Anne's back, it ached and stung. She fell, her limbs starting to numb.
"Be careful." A woman said, as someone picked Eve-Anne up.
The pain in her back grew, whatever had stabbed her it had hit the scarred tissue on her back.
"We don't want to do any more damage. Be careful." The woman said, as Eve-Anne was thrown into the back of a car.
