Lunch

We woke up really early in the morning and literally ran to the kitchen before everybody else got up. We sat down at one of the tables as we waited for the others. I was careful to warn Caspian about Nina's nature of keeping items in their place.

"Oh, Your Majesty!" Mark exclaimed, being the first to enter. He stopped just after opening the door, shocked to see us waiting there.

"Good morning!" I wished him as we stood up.

"What is the meaning of this?" Nina asked us, following Mark inside. She was the only one who could talk back to Caspian without any fear. She treated him as her own son, and that made their relationship the sweetest.

"Today, Sophie and myself are going to cook lunch for everyone."

"This is not right, Your Majesty. I-" Nina started to protest.

"Please, Nina?" I asked her.

"Please?" Caspian asked.

"But, no offense, Your Majesty," Oliver started. "You don't know where all the ingredients are."

"And we haven't brought in the daily ones from the market." Evelyn said.

I cleared my throat and everyone looked at me. "Has everyone forgotten that I've spent most of my time here?"

"But-" They started to protest once again but somehow, we won them over

"But-" They started to protest once again but somehow, we won them over.

I was excited. It was the first time I was going to see Caspian without following the norms of being a royal. He was only Caspian and I was only Sophie. Everyone was asked to leave the kitchen after they finished their breakfast while we prepared for lunch. It was just the two of us.

"So what are we making?" I asked as he closed the kitchen door.

"The only thing that I know to make." He said. "Lasagne."

I loved his accent a lot but I never told him that. Didn't want to sound too dorky, you know? Everytime he spoke, my heart made high jumps.

"Ooh that sounds nice." I hoped that my voice didn't sound shaky.

Caspian prepared the sauce while I prepared the dough. One year in Narnia and I had figured out how to make good dough, all thanks to Mark really. Everyone taught me different things when I wanted to help them out.

"Sophie, will you please taste this?" He asked me, bringing the ladle to the table I was sitting on.

We had fun cooking. Caspian was really serious. He wore an apron and everything. It was strange but nice to see him like that. I wondered what it would be like if we had met in my world, or in Narnia but without both of us having the responsibility of being rulers. It was a nice dream that I wished could have been true.

He smirked and I looked up at him. "What?" I came out of my thoughts.

"Nothing." He shook his head. "You just have a little bit..." He wiped my cheek with his thumb. "You just had some flour there." showed it to me.

"Oh!" I said. "Then maybe we should be even." I spread some flour across his face.

"Sophie!" He exclaimed and we broke out laughing. "Anyway, would you please take a taste?" He asked after he wiped his face.

I took a taste of it using a different spoon. "Maybe a little bit of salt?"

"All right." He sprinkled some salt over the pan. He started working on the pasta sheets next while I prepared the pan for cooking the lasagne in the oven. "I hope they like it."

"I'm sure they'll love it." I promised and we smiled at each other.

I turned around from the oven and felt a splash of water. "A-ha!" Caspian exclaimed.

"Oh no, you didn't." I said, but didn't take my revenge, not just yet. I would get it, don't worry.

After we were done, we allowed everyone to enter the kitchen. Everyone worked on something while we told them what we made. The oven went ding! and we pulled the big bowl out. Steam was coming out and the bowl was really hot. I burnt my fingers a little bit but it didn't hurt as much as it should have.

We kept the bowl on the table and Caspian added some seasoning and extra sauce. "Oliver?" I called out to him and handed him a fork. "Please do the honours." I bowed my head and moved away from the table to give him some space.

I knew that everyone was hungry and very anxious to know how we had done. Oliver took one taste of the lasagne and closed his eyes. "How is it?" Caspian asked as he held onto my hand. It was my turn to draw circles over the back of his hand to calm him down.

"What do you think?" I asked him. Both Caspian and I were holding our breaths.

Oliver looked at the floor and started to clap. You should've seen the happiness on Caspian's face. It would always be edged into my heart. Seeing him happy made me happy.

Caspian hugged me and shook hands with everyone else. "Who forgot to invite me to the celebration?" The Professor asked as he entered the dining room. He had heard our voices and decided to join the party.

"I was just about to call you." I said.

"We made lunch today." Caspian said.

The Professor looked surprised. "Is that so?" He asked us. "I hope you haven't burnt down the kitchen then." He joked.

"I was careful not to." Caspian chuckled.

"Today is the only day you two get to do this." Nina informed us while everyone sat down to eat.

"Of course." Caspian kissed Nina on the cheek, startling her.

Everyone was enjoying themselves and that was one of the favourite days of my life and some of my favourite moments with Cas. He and I looked at each other as everyone finally sat down to eat. "Good job, Cas."

"Thank you, Sophie." He kissed my forehead.

I felt that something was wrong. Caspian's eyes looked sad whenever he looked at me and his smile didn't reach his ears. While everyone was having happy conversations across the table, he was looking at me. "Is everything all right?"

He didn't say anything and changed the topic. "Instead of going to the tower," He whispered to me. "Can you meet me at the astronomy tower?"

"The one in the castle or the one in the stables?" I whispered back.

He smiled. "The one in the castle, of course."

"I would love to."

The Professor had told me that the sky was going to look like a snow fallen ground for a week and I was really excited to see it. Who knew what Caspian was going to tell me?
