The burning yellow orb hitting my skin was warmer than I expected to say the least.
"IT'S SO HOT!" Spinel yelled.
"Wow, thank you so much for this ground-breaking discovery, Professor Gem." I respond sarcastically as I open an umbrella and stick it into the smooth, lilac sand.
"Can it, why don't cha?" She grumbles as she heads down to where I'm setting up. The Gem family owned the beach that we decided to spend the day at.
"I used to come here every summer. Man, it was way bigger then too..."
"Maybe you were just small." I giggled.
She opened a basket and took out some juice boxes. She also brought some brownies, courtesy of Amethyst. We laid down a striped blanket and laid next to each other in silence. Just enjoying the sound of crashing waves.
"I'm bored." I said.
"I don't care." Spinel cuddled me.
"Let's play ball." I suggested.
"No."
"Please??"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"We're breaking up."
"Fine." Spinel groaned and got up, stretching. She had a black bikini on, and I didn't realize I was staring at her figure for a few minutes. It's just...she was so mesmerizing, her skin shining in the sun and a bit of sweat around her thighs, making them look sparkly. Her body could be so hypnotizing.
"M-moist." I say awkwardly as she snickered, since she noticed I was gawking at her stunning figure for about 5 minutes s̶t̶r̶a̶i̶g̶h̶t̶.
"Alright, you can stare at me as long as you want when we play. Now come on." She held out her hand as she giggled. I took it as she hoisted me up. Spinel went to grab the ball as I headed closer to the waves.
VOLLEYBALL
SPINEL -
Y/N -
I finished writing in the sand as I felt a something softly bop my back. I whipped my head around to find a volleyball, and Spinel competitively posing, hands on hips.
[GAME...START!]
I jumped upwards and hurled the ball with my wrist. Spinel rushed left and hit it back with her elbow. I tripped over myself and landed on the ground, but quickly got back up by pushing my hand up and launching towards the ball. I slid to the side before going out of bounds and slapped the ball, wincing as my fingers felt the impact.
Spinel missed the ball, as she didn't expect Y/N to rebound as fast as she did.
VOLLEYBALL
SPINEL -
Y/N - 1
"Ha! I win!" I playfully stuck my tongue out at Spinel.
"Not for long!" Spinel served the ball.
"Hey! That's cheating!" I laughed, running towards the ball and hitting it back as she smirked.
"There's no rules in the game of love, shortcake." She adds before pushing herself off the ground and smacking the ball sideways. The volleyball hit the ground with a painful thud, sending the lilac sand flying upwards.
"Damn...wait a second." I look closer at the sand around me as my eye catches a glimpse of something shiny.
"Spinel, come here." I gestured for her to come closer.
"Yeah, what's up?" She asked, impatiently tapping her foot on the ground.
"Why is there this sparkly stuff scattered everywhere??" I said, demandingly.
"Oh. The sand, it's kinda...mixed with sparkles. Little pieces of glitter are everywhere. Seven years ago or so, Pinky, Bluey, and Yelley all wanted the ground to be prettier, so Grandma White paid the servants triple to mix every part of this beach with dollar store glitter. Neat, huh?" Spinel chuckles lightly as she watches me stare at the ground in awe.
"It's...so pretty.."
"I thought it was lame when I was younger." Spinel snickered quietly as she crouched next to me. I was on my knees, plucking at all the tiny, sharp, and sparkly papers shaped like stars and diamonds. The colors varied from red, gold, indigo, navy blue, and magenta.
"Yeah...everything was amazing when I was growing up. Pinkey, Bluey, and Yellow....we'd run around, falling and rolling in the sand, just doing nothing. Just...talking. About anything really. It went from what the point was to making your bed if you're going to mess it up anyway to what the point of life was if you're just going to die anyway."
I giggled. "That's dark."
"Yeah, for seven year olds." Spinel laughed along.
"Tell me more stories of your past." I look her in the eye.
"Why?"
"Because they fascinate me."
"Hmm...okay." Spinel looked deep in thought for a moment before speaking again.
"So, this was at this very beach. Pink and I were gonna go back to the beach house to sleep after playin' for hours. So suddenly, Pink gets the bright idea to camp on the beach instead." Spinel chuckled, holding in laughter. "And—pfft..—The next mornin', I wake up to see Pinky gone. And I look up, and just see this GIANT crab. And it's snappin' at me, with its little pincers. So I start yelling at the top of my lungs for someone to help me as I'm—...pfttsHAH, gettin' chased by this crab." Spinel paused and laughed.
"That's awful! What happened next?" I eagerly awaited the next part.
"Okay, okay, so I wake up AGAIN, and the same thing happens, except there's lightning and the crab is wearing these...hMmph!" Spinel covers her mouth and breathes. "A-alright, so the crab guy is wearing loafers!"
"Loafers?" I ask curiously before she continued.
"Yeah, yeah, so I wake up finally, to see Pink next to me, and like I wake her up, and I tell her about my dream. And get ready for this, she says she has a dream book, right? And she, hEHehe, she said my-my-my dream meant I was gAY!" Spinel began wheezing. I laughed as she moved on.
"Oh, and the lightning?? Yeah, that shit meant I was SUPER gay!" I howled with laughter.
"My god, she was right..!" I say in between panting.
"Yeah, she was.."
The laughter died down and I laid my head on her shoulder.
"I love you, gay nightmare."
"I love you too, shortie."
