I quickly grabbed a piece of toast and ran as fast as I could to the school. I only had a couple of minutes. It was a good thing I brought all of my history books home. I ran upstairs and entered the classroom with the toast still in my mouth. No one seemed to notice me. I still had about two minutes until class started.
I sat down and quickly tried to eat my toast as quietly as I could. It was really crunchy but no one noticed except for Alan.
"Well you came later then usual." He said with a smile on his face.
"I woke up late." I said after I swallowed a piece of my toast.
He chuckled and shook his head. He looked at me as if I were a little bit of a weirdo but I didn't care. He already knew I was weird so it wasn't out of the ordinary. I took another bite and he smiled sweetly.
"You know you are going to get in trouble for eating that here, right?" Alan said.
I nodded and continued to enjoy my toast. He shook his head and then went back to his seat. Once he sat down the bell rang.
"Good morning class." My history teacher greeted when he walked in.
He looked around the room and he stopped and stared at me. My eyes widened and we made eye contact. I held the fourth of the toast in my hand and swallowed the piece that I had in my mouth.
"Miss Joel?" Mr. Barnes asked.
I blinked a couple of times and took a bite of my toast, humming in response.
"Why are you eating in my class?" He asked.
"I missed breakfast and my stomach was growling." I said after I swallowed the bite.
"Please throw it away." Mr. Barnes said.
I felt my heart sink. There was no way I was going to throw away my precious toast. I sat completely still and licked my lips.
"Angelina, throw it away." He said as he pointed at the trash can.
I opened my mouth and brought it closer to my mouth.
"Angelina Joel this is your last warning." Mr. Barnes said as he pointed a finger at me.
I brought it away from my mouth. Sighing, I stood up and walked slowly to trash can, slouching. Mr. Barnes stood with his arms crossed and watched me as I approached the trash can. I looked at him with puppy eyes but he didn't react. I looked at the trash and then at my beautiful toast. Everyone was watching me.
I couldn't do it.
I threw the toast in my mouth and chewed it. Alan snorted and put his down, trying not to laugh loudly. Mr. Barnes narrowed his eyes but then sighed.
"Sit down." He said.
I walked over to my desk and licked the crumbs off of my lips. My history teacher then began the lesson. I turned and saw Alan shaking his head with a big smile on his face. I smiled and then started to doodle in my notebook.
