"Good morning, Yoongi. How are you feeling? " I ask, seeing the boy rise up from the bed; the dark circles under his eyes have faded a little bit, he also has a little bit more colour on his face.
I have the impression that he hadn't got a good night of sleep in a long time.
His hair are all in different directions, making him look like an hedgehog, stealing me a smile.
"Better that yesterday. " he frowns, probably thinking about the events of the previous day. "about yesterday.... I'm sorry...I-"
"It's fine, Yoongi "I interrupt him "let's get breakfast and we will think about that stuff later, okay?"
I always move all my problems in the back of my mind if it's morning, and especially if I haven't had my cup of hot chocolate. I don't like to stress that early in the day.
He doesn't seem so sure, but he gets up anyway. He seems a little hesitant, fidgeting on place, until I invite him to take a sit.
He seem more awake after I pour him a cup of coffee, black with no sugar, exactly as he requested.
He thanks me, and starts to eat some pancakes.
He makes a face, making me worry about the fact that, maybe, they are not that good.
"what's wrong?"
"nothing, it's just that I've never had these before..." he says taking another bite.
"you've never had pancakes?!" I asked shocked " what do you usually eat then?"
"It depends.... soup, kimchi, rice or whatever we still have in the fridge. "
"what's kimchi?"
"it's a spicy dish made with fermented vegetables "
"it doesn't seem that inviting to me..." I say making a face.
My answer makes him crack up, letting me see, for the first time, just a shadow of his real smile.
After that we continue our breakfast, in a peaceful silence.
The word around us starts to come to life, I can hear people's conversations, the sounds of bags being carried around, car doors being shut and shoes hitting the ground.
We clean up the table and we sit down again .
I notice the boy staring at me, waiting for the conversation to start.
"I think it's time to speak about what happened yesterday. "
He nods, waiting for me to continue. " I understood that you have to reach L.A., isn't it?" another nod. "And I've also noticed that you have basically nothing with you.... this means no money or clothes or anything in general. "
"couldn't you buy a ticket for me? "he asks, interrupting my speech " I promise I'll give you everything back."
"I don't have all that money, Yoongi."I answer " Besides, you want to depart today... and there are only Americans airlines; their flights are really expensive especially if buy last minute. And I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a ticket... and then maybe they decided to delete or just cancel the flight ! What would you do then? Humn ? Your manager or your friend maybe, couldn't they buy it for you?"
"No, they wrote to me earlier: they can't do anything because the tickets are too expensive, I'll have to wait a month to be able to reach them..." he says sighting "April, I-"
"listen to me first please." I say, interrupting him " I already had intentions to travel down to California, besides I have jobs there that require my presence. " I take a deep breath before continuing, shocked by the next words leaving my mouth " you could come with me . It would take nearly a month anyway, and you wouldn't have to be alone. "
This last part probably catches him the most. He nods seeming relieved.
"Okay, deal. It's not like I have many opportunities right now..."
"okay then, let's go!"
