"Rescuing your father and stopping Fyers is not gonna be some walk in the park. They're not gonna allows us to just stroll on into their camp." Slade argues as he paces around Shado.

"Which is why we'll need cover." Shado says, eyes focus on the maps and plans around her.

"If both of us are infiltrating, who will provide that?" Slade asks, lowering to Shado's level to catch her eyes.

"She will." Shado answers looking up and nodding at me.

"Me?" I question in surprise.

Slade laughs.

"The assault rifle is flushed. It's useless." Slade argues.

"We have a bow, arrows." Shado huffs, setting the papers down and placing her hands on her hips in frustration.

"And no one capable of shooting them. No offense, kid." Slade argues, offering me a glance before turning back to Shado.

"I was gonna say the same thing." I mumble looking down at me feet.

Shado looks at me and frowns.

"I think we should be spending our time trying to devise a plan not lower our already slim chances of survival." Slade argues.

"She'll hit her mark by sundown. If not, we'll do it your way." Shado compromises, walking off to grab the bow and quiver filled with arrows.

"Fine. Sundown." Slade grunts, crossing his arms over his chest.

Slade and Shado stare at each other, entering a battle of wills as they silently communicate with each other.

"Thea. Go wait outside." Shado says, her eyes never leaving Slade's.

"Yeah, okay." I quickly answer as I leave the wrecks of the airplane.

"Sundown, really? We both know she won't. Why are you wasting your time?" Slade scoffs lowly, careful not to be heard by anyone but Shado.

"Thea looks up to you, Slade. When you believe in her, she believes in herself. But when you cast doubt. We won't make it far if you keep talking down to her." Shado whispers harshly.

"The kid doesn't need me to be her personal cheerleader. I'm not here to offer encouraging words and wipe away her tears. Thea doesn't need a father and she doesn't need a mother either, Shado. We are not her parents, we're not her family either." Slade snaps, trying very hard to keep his voice down.

"But we're all she has right now. Thea is all we have right now. We may not be a family but we are a team. We're stronger together. So, I'm gonna try to help her become stronger because she is all that I have. My question is, what are you going to do to make this team stronger?" Shado says calmly before walking off.

"Come on, Thea." Shado sighs as she takes my hand and walks off, not sparing a glance behind her.

I hold Shado's hand tightly, I turn to look behind me and I see Slade watching us go. I wave goodbye to Slade, offering him a small smile. Slade casts his head down and walks off, not returning any of my sentiments.

"Set your sight. Hit the tree." Shado instructs, watching me as I draw back the bowstring with an arrow loaded.

I let out a breath, releasing the bowstring. The arrow cuts through the air, completely missing it's intended target.

"Probably hit a tree." I huff, swinging my bow in the direction the arrow went.
