I woke up from my little nap to see DL curled around me. Well, not actually see, more like sense his body temperature. I was blind. I crawled over to him and tried to "look" around my terrarium. I noted that Hanzel wasn't back yet (I only knew his name due to one of the ladies calling him that). However, that didn't mean I could sense that there was something off. I turned my head to figure out what was going on. Eventually, I noticed that there was someone watching us. I quickly crawled behind DL for comfort and safety. He started to wake up.

"What in the world is happening here?" He asked grumpily.

"There is someone here! They are looking at us!" I whimpered and I could sense him turn his head to the person.

"What are they doing here?" DL growled.

"I don't know..."

"Little CS2! You couldn't hurt a soul could you?" Hanzel shouted at me, and DL hissed," Oh, you never trust me."

I went over to him and rubbed against his hand, without being able to see, touch and smell were helpful. I thumped my tail on the ground as a greeting.

"Be careful CS." DL whispered to me.

"I know DL." I muttered.

If Hanzel heard everything DL said, he would kill him, or more likely, DL would kill Hanzel.

Hanzel petted my head softly as he sat down on the ground next to me," I just came here to tell you to watch out for Howard. He is going to try and inject you with the needle again."

I froze in place. I was deathly afraid of needles and even more afraid of Howard. This was because of my past with him. He was the one who made me what I am in the first place. However, he would try to inject some strange medicine into me. Eventually, Hanzel stopped him from doing these experiments but that doesn't mean he no longer tries to.

DL scowled," That abusive son of a-"

"DL!" I shouted," Watch your tone!"

He grumbled something incoherent and returned to his perch on top of the rocks.

"I'll do my best to stop him," Hanzel said," but I can only do so much before they think I'm too attached to you and take you away."

"They'd do that?" I asked fearfully.

"The only thing they could do that would surprise me is being kind to us for once in their miserable lives." DL said before laying back down.

Hanzel chuckled," I can tell you two don't like my answer." he stood up," Well, I'm off to do some convincing I guess, wish me luck."

"Good luck!" I said brightly.

"Don't screw up you idiot." DL said.

Hanzel left and I turned to DL," Why do you always have to be so negative?"

"It's the only thing I'm really exposed to here I guess." He said.

"Well, I think we should try and be optimistic about how we're treated."

He looked at me with a weird glance," How do you stay so positive even after all the things they have done to you? Howard literally took two of your legs before you became this...."

I frowned," Well, think about it this way. We could be living with just the mean scientists, but we have Hanzel."

He snorted," I guess the string bean is useful for something."

"ANYWAYS," I said, glaring at him," what I'm trying to say is that I prefer to look at how much worse our situation could be, and then I become grateful for how good we have it. It feels good, you should try it."
