Muffin and I raced down the corridor after Hanzel or as we'd recently discovered, Adam. The corridor opened into a huge room.
"How the heck have we never seen this place?!" Muffin shouted, her voice echoing.
The lights dimmed and suddenly, there were multiple spotlights focused on the opposite wall.
"My dear friends." Hanzel said, standing in the spotlight," I know that you may not understand what I'm doing, but this is for the greater good! Now, either turn around and go back to your other friends or face your doom."
"Well," I said," good to see you still have your dramatic flare Adam."
He cringed," How dare you! My name is Hanzel, not that very traumatizing string of letters."
"Yeah, your name is Hanzel just as much as mine is Nepoznat. What are you German?"
He flinched," Enough! You've made your decision! Now face the consequences!"
The floor shifted and suddenly, started spinning. It was slow, but noticeable.
"Oh, crap." Muffin said, wobbling a bit," I'm gonna' be sick."
"Don't worry, I have another surprise for you!" He shouted.
Suddenly, two holes opened up in the floor on either side of him. What looked to be a clone of Muffin and Peter came out of the holes.
"YOU JERK!" Muffin shouted, immediately forgetting how sick she felt," THAT'S MY CHAINSAW!"
He smiled," Well, you can come and take it."
The other Muffin pulled a cord and the chainsaw roared to life.
"Oh, it is On!" She shouted.
The floor began to spin even faster as the two clones stepped towards us.
"Well this'll be fun." I said," Do we at least get something to defend ourselves with?!" I shouted.
"Alright fine." Adam said," You get one weapon!"
A weapon holder appeared nearby us. Muffin grabbed a spear while I got a baseball bat. This is how the real battle begins. What seemed to be a wheel of fortune appeared out of nowhere. Adam spun it and it landed on a purple space.
"Ooooh!" He said excitedly," This one will be fun!"
The floor then started to rise and fall like some deadly carousel.
"I knew you liked carnivals but I didn't think you'd make a literal room based off of one!" I shouted, wobbling a little bit. However, I noticed the clones also started to wobble," MUFFIN! ARE YOU THINKING WHAT I AM THINKING?!"
She noticed them losing their balance too," Yeah! Let's beat up these imposters!"
She made her way towards her clone and it tried to swing at her with the chainsaw.
"As the Muffin Mother I hereby revoke your chainsaw rights!" She shouted and shoved them over the edge with the butt of her spear," Nep! Go get Not-Peter!"
I turned and saw the Peter clone stumbling towards me holding a rolling pin.
"You. Don't. Deserve. To. Look. Like. My. Friend!" I shouted, hitting them with my bat with each shout.
I managed to hit them off the edge as well and fell over, winded and dizzy.
"Well that was no fun." Hanzel said," Glad I have more up my sleeve!"
He spun the wheel again and it landed on a blue space. The room filled with water, only leaving some platforms to walk on.
"Have fun with this!" He shouted. He then hopped onto one of the platforms and pulled out a sword," Time to finish this little game."
Muffin jumped onto the platforms to catch up to him. I followed suit, trying to hit him. He blocked my attack but got hit by Muffin's spear. He then punched her and shoved me off. He spun the wheel once, landing on a green tile. The water was drained from the room and a hole opened in the floor. The creature crawling out of the hole was a large humanoid creature. They were covered in scales and had horns on their head. It's tail thrashed around the room.
"WHAT IS THAT THING!?" Muffin shouted.
"Just an experiment my scientists made." Hanzel said with a chuckle.
I looked at the creature and noticed how sad it looked, as if it was being forced to fight us.
"Dude!" I shouted," Quit messing with nature!"
"It's for the greater good." Hanzel said," Now that I've created creatures capable of combating the virus, we don't even need a cure!" he started laughing maniacally," We don't even need humanity at this point!"
"He really is insane." Muffin said and then turned to the monster," Now, I can tell you probably hate him too, so maybe we could have an alliance for like, ten minutes?"
It hesitated," I can't, I've never been able to beat him before, I don't see why now would be different..."
Muffin threw her arms up in exasperation," Fine! Then I'll do this myself!" she started running towards Hanzel.
"Muffin, wait!" I shouted, but it was too late.
She jumped up to his platform and swung at him, but he got out of the way, revealing a wall covered in traps. They gleamed in the dim light, sending a shiver down my spine. She managed to roll out of the way at the last moment and I sighed in relief. Hanzel grabbed a round object and threw it down on the ground. Smoke started to fill the room and Muffin and I started coughing, tears clouding my vision as I pushed her out of the room. We waited for the smoke to clear, but Hanzel and the monster were nowhere to be seen.
"He's gone." I said breathlessly," Come on, we need to help the others."
"No! We need to finish this!" She said, running back into the room.
"Will you just listen to me for once?! We can deal with him later, but right now, everyone else needs our help."
She stopped and sighed," Damn it, you're too good at knowing what to say." She turned towards the lab hallway," Fine, we'll go help them."
We ran down the hall and burst into the room to see a battle raging.
