CHAPTER 70: clashing

Is there ever a week you hate with a strongass passion because...well, because it's shit? Yeah, I'm currently being sawed in half right now and from the sight I woke up to this morning, it certainly looks like it. Ah, the perks of being a female.

I struggled enough with a stomach ache so how torturous it is when I'm on my period. God, I can't even imagine myself when I give birth, I thought. That morning, I wrapped myself up in a black baggy jumper and black sweats just in case my period blood decided to peak out to the world.

"Here you go, love. Your favourite," my mother spoke as she settled two cheese and ham toasties in front of me. I was going to have three, but I decided it would be too greedy of me to ask for three. I tucked into them, avoiding any sudden movement or force that could send my vagina gushing. Periods were the worst, but at least I knew I wasn't pregnant.

After my fifth time going downstairs to get a snack, I decided to get some fresh air. I made my way into the boxing ring to hopefully see Darren beating Jaxon's ass, but it ended up being a situation quite similar. Darren and Owen were landing punches upon one another, hair wet and bodies glistening with sweat. They looked like they've been fighting for a while now seeing as they were both huffing tiredly. Alfonso was nearby, checking on the boys in case Owen decided to kill Darren. I knew the two were competitive, but I didn't know they were that competitive. Owen had a cut bottom lip, a faint blood stain on his chin and Darren had a cut on his cheek yet they both still fought.

I walked up the steps and noticed some of the other children there had stopped and decided to watch the two guys against each other. I went over to Alfonso, whose eyes flickered to me quickly before blowing the whistle in his hand.

"Okay, boys. Time out and take a break." they both grabbed their towels and wiped the sweat off their foreheads, "how are you today, Brielle?"

"I'm good thanks, Mr O'Mars. Just getting some fresh air before I have to go home and study," I spoke, my fingers fiddling with the material of the jumper, "how are those two doing? Still fighting?"

"Of course, they are. Since when do they not? It was supposed to be Jaxon against Darren today, but Kiara asked him to stay behind and help out with the dogs so Owen stepped in. Have you two sorted out...the relationship issue?" I nodded with a small smile, feeling quite glad that I don't have to worry about being anywhere too close to Owen anymore. I've been around him more often, but we're always busy. Sometimes I only see him briefly before he leaves his house when I'm going to see Jaxon for his tutoring, "well, that's good. Have a good day, Brielle and tell your mother that Kiara will be coming round later to borrow the vacuum cleaner."

"Okay," I spoke as I walked down the steps towards Owen, "I'll let her know."

I headed over to see Owen sat on the bench, breathing heavily as a man spoke to him. He was quite tall and sported a white beard like Santa Claus. Owen's head turned to see me before patting the space next to him and inviting me over. The man seemed to notice as well and a small smirk appeared on his face.

"Well, would you look at that? I never knew I'd see the day," the man spoke as I sat next to Owen. His lip was slightly bleeding as he glared at the man, "aren't you going to introduce me, boy?"

"She's Layla's daughter, remember? You've met her before, I think when we were younger. Beautiful, isn't she?" Owen spoke, his fingers threading through my exposed blonde locks of hair from my hood, "Brielle, this is Mr Perkins. He was one of my dad's friends before he died."
