CHAPTER 4

EMILY'S  POV

*MONDAY*

"Yeah hi, what's up? How was your weekend?" Levi asked.

"Yeah it was fine. What about you?" I replied.

"Amazing! Trey and I were together all the time." He replied. Trey is Levi's boyfriend.

"Nice. I hope your l*** word remains like this forever." I said laughing and teasing him.

"Ok, ok. Stop teasing me. I just called you to remind you about your early shift today." He stated.

"Yeah thank you. I will reach there one hour before." I replied politely.

"Ok then meet you in restaurant." He stated.

"Ok, bye." I replied and ended the call with it.

It was 4 pm now. So I have some time to take rest. I have to reach there by 6 pm. But why? I am just a part time worker there. If some important guests are going to arrive, then there are other staff people who can take care. And why only my shift is early? Levi was also going to come at his regular time. Then why me?

I asked Levi the reason, but he didn't know anything about it. The manager had asked him to inform me but he didn't knew the reason. Ok maybe I am just overreacting. I will get to know when I reach there.

"Hello Sir,good evening." I greeted the manager.

"Good evening, Emily." He replied.

"Umm, you asked Levi to inform me about my early shift." I said

"Yeah, I did. There is someone who is willing to meet you."

"Meet me? Here? But who?" I asked fully confused.

"The secretary of Mr. Zach Paxwell is here to meet you." He said

"Zach Paxwell? Who is he and why his secretary wants to meet me?" I asked.

"You are surely kidding me! You don't know Sir Zach Paxwell?"

"Well, I am not kidding you. I actually don't know who is this Sir Zach."

"Oh my God, Emi. He is the CEO of multibillionaire Paxwell CORP. His company is flourished all over the world. He owns almost 60% of the city. Even this restaurant, you are working for is owned by Sir Zach! He is my boss, means your boss's boss. Now common,, Mr Noah, secretary of Mr. Zach is waiting for you in my office." He said making his way to his office.

I just nodded and quietly followed him. Why the assistant of my boss's boss wanted to meet me? Have I done any mistake? Am I going to lose the job? But why what have I done?

We reached in his office. And there behind the desk, a man in black suit was sitting. He immediately stood up on seeing me.

"Hello Miss Emily, I am Noah." He said extending his hand for me.

"Hello!" I said shaking his hand.

"Mr. Mark. Can you please excuse us for some time? I need to talk to Miss Emily." He told the manager.

"Yeah sure! Ok Emily, see you later." The manager smiled at me.

I nodded and smiled back at him. He left the office and I sat on the chair kept in front of the desk. And Mr. Noah sat on his own chair again.

"Miss Emily, I am secretary of Mr. Zach Paxwell." He told me looking at my confused face.

"Umm. I know. But I was just thinking about the purpose of this meeting." I replied softly.

"Actually Mr. Zach wants to give you a job."

"Job? What job?"

"He wants you to work as his personal assistant." He stated.

I was really shocked now.

"I suppose you just said that you are his secretary, right." I replied.

"Yeah, I am his assistant too, but I only do his office things- you will be his personal assiatant, which means you will be doing his personal errands and scheduling along with a few things."

"Umm, ok. But why me? He even does not know me and he wants to give me a job!"

"Miss Emily, this restaurant is also owned by Mr. Zach. He keeps a record of all his employees and their work. From the manager and other staff working here, we have found out that you are hard-working, obedient and loyal to your job. So he wants to hire you." Noah said.

I was not at all convinced by the reason. There are other people too, who really work hard in this restaurant. Then why me? The question was not answered yet!

"If you say yes, Miss Emily, then I will be glad to inform you that your salary will be atleast ten times more than what you get from your current job." He continued.

"And what if I say no?" I asked.

"If you say no, then I will not be glad to inform you that you will be fired from your current job as well." He said.

"What? You can't do this. You can't fire me, if I have not done anything wrong." I shouted at him angrily.

"Yes Miss Emily. You are right. I can't do this, but Mr. Zach Paxwell can. And no one will dare to go against him." He stated.

He was right. The CEO of multibillionaire company, who owns almost 60% of the city can do this. He can fire me without any damn reason. And I am sure, he will make it damn difficult for me to get another job in the city. He will use all his fame and will try hard to keep me jobless. And I can't afford being jobless. If I want to continue my college, I need a job. And above all, the salary will be ten times more than what I get here. This means, in few months, I will also be able to purchase my own apartment. The apartment, I live in, is not mine. I pay the rent for it. Thats it. I will do this job!

"Ok, Mr. Noah. I am ready to do the job." I stated with firmness in my voice.

"Good Miss Emily. You have made right decision. Here are some papers you need to sign before you join your new job tomorrow." He took out some papers from his bag and placed them on the desk in front of me.

Then suddenly a thought came in my mind.

"I am ready to sign the papers. But I would like to inform you that I am a college student. So I have classes to attend." I told him.

"Yeah. I know that. I have set your job timings accordingly. Your job starts at 1 pm in noon and ends at 7:30 in the evening. Will that be okay with you?" He asked.

Damn yes!

"Yeah. It will be absolutely okay." I replied.

"Ok then sign the papers"

I signed the papers. He stood up and extended his hand again.

"Congratulations, Miss Emily! Welcome to Paxwell CORP. Your job starts from tomorrow." He said.

"Thank you. I will be there by sharp 1 pm." I shook his hand and left the office.

I really don't know, what is going to happen tomorrow.
