Melissa's POV:

I barely slept last night. I didn't think that everyone I love would be risking their lives once again so soon. I kept thinking about how I was in Adam and Sean's shoes once, and that's where everything changed for me. I haven't looked at a case since or listened to one.

Last night, I got out of bed and read some entries from Tim's journal. I didn't cry when I was reading it. It actually made my nerves worse. I didn't want to think that my last conversation with anyone today could be the last. It hurts to think about. Somehow, I ended up with at least two hours of sleep.

When I left Tony's, I hugged him tighter and kissed him longer. He knew why and he let it happen.

I'm in my office and Jack walks in along with Vance. If I knew I was going to get a visit from Vance I would have dressed up a little bit. I'm just wearing a long-sleeved shirt and black shorts.

"Hey Vance. Hi Jack."

"Mrs. McGee." Vance hasn't stopped calling me that. I like that about him. He finds that still calling me that, it isn't sad for me but it honors Tim.

He turns to face Jack. When I look at Jacks face, he seems upset. What happened?

"Mr. Daniels I'll leave you to tell Mrs. McGee the news."

He turns and walks out the door. "Thank you, Vance."

Jack turns to me and his cheeks are red. I know he has to tell me something, but I want to get one thing out of the way. "Jack Daniels?"

He sighs. "Please, you wouldn't be surprised if you ever met my father."

He walks over to the couch and I join him. "What was Vance talking about?"

He can barely look at me. His cheeks have gone red to pale. "Mel, I have to tell you something that Vance just told me."

The good news just keeps on coming, I guess. "What is it? Just rip the bandage off. I've had a lot of surprises this week."

"Well, that doesn't make me feel better."

I just wait for him to speak. Whatever he has to say, it can never be worse than the news I got on my darkest day.

He swallows and finally builds the courage to tell me what's been going on. "Well, I had no idea about this I just wanted to put that out there."

That's always a good start.

"It's just that Vance has had this idea for a while. Now, that you've been back and have been staying he thinks now is the perfect time."

I can only think of one thing coming to mind. "Are they finally making you full time?"

He sighs. "Yes, but not here."

I feel my heart drop when he says that. I know what that means. He's leaving me.
