(where it all started.)

Melissa's POV:

I just got my husband back, and Abby decided today of all days to put her imagination on high and I had to be the one to observe it.

She called me early and said she needed my help getting ready for a date. She didn't want it to be like any other date. She wanted this one to be different and adventurous. Lock Abby anywhere and you can get that.

She made me feel bad by saying that she really likes this guy and needs inspiration. I gave in and she told me to wear one of my favorite dresses for motivation.

Tim helped me get ready, and I actually mean that. He didn't try to make me stay like he used to, he just let me go.

I think he hasn't gotten enough sun or something.

Abby made all this fuss to pick an outfit she thought was perfect after only two hours of being with her. I know Abby can say a lot in one minute; I just thought there would have been more to this date like she said she wanted. She didn't give me a lot of information while I was there. I just sucked it up and went on my way.

"Thanks for you help." She says as she pulls up to the house.

"No problem." It was a weird experience but I'm not going to tell her that.

"I'll see you tomorrow?"

Everyone and I have a whole thing planned for tomorrow. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

I get out of the car and wave to Abby as she drives off. I can't wait to tell Tim what I just had to experience.

I get to the door and we leave it unlocked now, because we finally feel safe in our own little world. When I open the door, I immediately notice, the lights are dim, and I see brighter lights in the kitchen.

I slowly make my way there with my footsteps being the only thing making any noise in the house.

When I get to the kitchen, my husband is sitting at the table with candlelight, a cloth on the table, and food already served.

"What is this?" I ask while smiling.

He pulls out the chair next to him. I look at him and he's dressed in a suit. I sit down and he leans down to kiss me.

"Don't you look handsome, handsome." He chuckles and takes a seat right next to me.

"I've missed you calling me that." He says.

I look around the table and see he has salad, fettuccine alfredo, and garlic bread.

"So, we really went shopping for you the other day instead of me, huh?"

He smiles. "That was the whole idea."

I look at the glass and see that he has Riesling poured. "I'm actually going to need this after the evening I had with Abby. She has this crazy date that-"

"Abby doesn't have a date."

I look at him and he has a smirk on his face. "You set me up."

He shakes his head. "Yes, I did."

I can't even be mad at him that I didn't see this coming. I just love him for it.

I lean in to kiss his lips and feel the sensation he always gives me.

I pull away and his beautiful smile is all I can stare at. "I wanted our life to begin right this time. I don't want us to worry about the past. We will only go forward this time."

He gestures for me to pick up my glass and we cheers to that. I stare at him as he sips his wine and put mine down.

"You know I don't think our past was so bad. I certainly think we had more good times than bad ones."

He looks at me and smiles. "Like that time, I pulled you into the bathroom and work and kissed you all over."

I laugh. "Yeah, you have me a rose that day and I had to hide it in my pocket. The thing got crushed."

I look at his beautiful smile again and the good memories keep rushing in. "I remember that time when we went to Gibbs cabin and we made out in his car."

"I think we did a little more than that." He smirks.

"Oh god." I laugh.

"Or that time we were kissing on the boat, and almost got caught by Tony and Gibbs."

That was a doozy. We weren't even official yet, but the feelings were there.

I start laughing again. "Even though it wasn't as funny back then, but that moment when you tackled Sean in your own apartment."

He shakes his head. "You know that wasn't as bad as the time we went to the city and I tried not to scare you, but that's all I did and we had to find your dads pocket knife in the cold."

James. Gone but never forgotten. I didn't say it while he was alive, but without him, I wouldn't have the best husband in the entire world. All I can do now is thank him.

"That's where you told me you loved me." I say to him.

"And I still do."

We made all of these beautiful memories and it all started with a kiss. "I'll never forget that day you brought me home from the bar and kissed me right there on the doorstep."

He kisses me just to recreate the moment in our new home. "Well, I won't forget the first time I ever drove you home. I knew then that I was crazy about you. I just wanted you to stay and knew I had to have you."

I remember that day so well. He liked my music. We were flirting with each other the whole ride home, it was perfect.

We're just perfectly imperfect.

Yes, no relationship is easy. Maybe we went through things that no one else would go through as a couple. We got through it together and now we're starting over again without the bad but the good memories with us.

I grab his hand. "I'll love you always handsome."

He smiles at me. "I'll love you forever baby."
