Part 6-stress

Yuri pov
Victor and I pulled up outside of Karasuno to pick Shoyo up after school. We hadn't told him but we called his mum so she knew he wouldn't be going home. At our house he has his own room, clothes and storage for his xbox and switch which he bought himself with his winnings.
(for the purpose of this fic everytime you skate publicly eg. In comps or the showcase, you get payed so Hinata is pretty rich) he practically lived with us anyway and his time was split between us and his mother kind of like divorced parents.

We pulled up our masks and had our hair under beanies to hide our identities and noticed the ginger walking into the gym signalling his practice was starting. We knew it was pretty long, usually until 7pm, so we waited in the car for a while before getting out.

We walked up to the gym hand in hand, making sure we weren't recognisable first, and then walked through the open doors to the bench. We spotted the coach and headed over introducing ourselves (fake of course) and saying hello. We told him we wanted to watch Shoyo practice before taking him home and he agreed so we sat on the bench taking it in.

Watching the boy jump made us realise his love for the sport. It looked like he flew through the air and then the way his hand hit the ball causing it to almost attack the floor made us both jump. "Hinata's quick attack with Kageyama is really something to see" his coach spoke when he noticed us jump. "it really is, I didn't realise how good he is at it" I replied turning my focus back to him. He still hasn't noticed that we were here and we were laughing internally about his reaction.

It was exactly how we imagined it. Half way through the 3 on 3 they were doing Shoyo turned to yell at Kageyama and instead spotted us on the bench. "BAKA YOU-" "BOKE WHAT?!" he stood there wide eyes staring at us so we waved at him. "I- you- what?" "Hinata what's up?" their captain asked.

"Hinatas cousin came to watch you practice before taking him home that's all" Ukai-san told them. "hello everyone" Victor smiled though the mask on his face didn't show it. "are you the Russian cousin with the boyfriend?" "that would be me" I stood up. "hi I'm suga" "nice to meet you suga" "this is our captain Daichi Sawamura..." he introduced everyone on the team and they got back to practice though I think they tried harder now that someone was watching.

Practice ended and we all said goodbye as Victor and I grabbed Shoyo by the arms dragging him to our car."what's up guys, i thought there's no practice tonight?" "there isn't but we called your mum and she said you can stay with us tonight, we want to talk to you"

It was currently Thursday so we knew that we had technically one more day before leaving for the showcase. "you excited to see Yurio again Sho?" "mhm, haven't seen Uncle Yuri in ages" he mumbled from the back seat. 'this is worse than we though'

We pulled up at the house and pulled down our masks breathing in the cool fresh air. "so what did you want to talk about?" Shoyo asked as we sat down on the sofa. "we just want to check you're OK" "yeah Sho, you've been acting like your- old self"

His face was shocked as he looked at us, but his expression quickly turned shameful and he stared at his lap. "m sorry" he whispered. I gave Victor a look and he stood up walking to the bathroom most likely to get the first aid kit. "it's fine, I just want you to tell me what happened so we can help" I pulled him onto my lap running my hand through his hair and rubbing his back. I felt a tear hit my t-shirt and hugged him closer until Victor got back.

"give Victor you arms Sho while we talk OK?" he nodded and held out his arms letting us pull up the sleeves. They weren't as bad as we expected but the fact that they were really there was bad enough. "Vic is gunna clean them up, so I'll ask questions OK? You don't have to talk" he grunted and I took that as a go ahead to start. "when did you start this again?" "Tuesday after practice" 'so it's only been a few days at least'
"OK, have you been taking your pills?" he took the opportunity to look at his lap and shake his head "I forgot a few" he sighed from dissapointment.

"it's fine you know? We aren't mad or upset with you. It's just stress Shoyo, we understand." "but, you do need to talk to us. You've only got one day left till the showcase and you know you'll do great. Yurio will be there and Katsuki-san will be cheering you on with the whole family. If you don't want your friends to find out we'll make sure they don't. Just try to calm down. Make sure you take your pills, everyday. Even at camp ill make sure you take them. And no more of this OK"

"I'm sorry" "you don't need to be sorry. You just need to look after yourself. We'll help with the rest. Now do you want to practice or just hang out." "c-could we go to the rink? I'm not sure of the last quad and it's making me nervous" we both nodded and headed to the rink to hopefully help him calm down and gave him encouraging words before Saturday.
