Chapter 8: The family just came back

Once Aspen found a train to New York, it became night. While Aspen was asleep on the train, Pluto and Lily were sitting on the edge looking at the moon. "I wanted to talk to you about something... The last time we saw each other was when I proved to you that I could be good. And you left me there. I never stopped thinking about that day when I betrayed you. And I went to bed feeling so bad about it. So what I'm trying to say is... I'm sorry." Pluto said looking down. Lily looked down, too then slightly smiled at him. "And I already forgave you." Lily said softly. "But I could tell in your voice that you were just trying to be nice." Pluto said. "Pluto, what's this got to do with-?" Lily started then Pluto said, "So I'm sorry. Honestly." "Pluto, you're crazy. I forgave you a LONG time ago." Lily said. Pluto smiled at her then nuzzled her. Lily was a little surprised then fell asleep.

~3 hours later~

It was 10:00 PM at night when Lily heard "help!". "What the-?" Lily said as she looked down at the ground and saw a white fox... then a German Shepherd... then an Australian Shepherd. "Aw, that little fox pup is getting chased by that German Shepherd." Lily said feeling sorry for the fox pup because she couldn't do anything about it. "He's just chasing it. It'll be fine... Even though his claws are getting close to it... and he's snarling... and... OMG, HE'S GONNA KILL IT!" Pluto said. Aspen woke up and said, "What's with all this noise?!?!" "Oh. Sorry, Aspen. It's just that a fox pup is getting attacked by a German Shepherd." Pluto said. "Looks like the Australian Shepherd is trying to save it." Lily said. "Uh, Lily, that Australian Shepherd is getting really close to the train wheels." Pluto said. "She's gonna get hurt!" Lily said. Then she thought of something! "Hey! Be careful!" She called out. Once the Australian Shepherd looked at her, she saw Lily's lily flower behind her ear and gasped then stopped at a sharp stop. Then Lily slipped and fell off the train. "I got you, Lily!" Pluto said grabbing Lily's scruff. But he couldn't hold on then fell down, too. "I'm gonna regret this..." Aspen said as she jumped off.

Pluto was panting then said, "You okay, Lily?" "Yes, but that was our only way home. Well, my only way home anyway." Lily said. "Where's the German Shepherd?" Pluto wondered. "And the fox?" Aspen added. Lily sighed from exhaustion and said, "It doesn't matter," Lily looked over and saw the Australian Shepherd. "Hey. Are you okay?" Lily asked with a bit of annoyance in her voice. "Um, yes, I'm fine. Thank you, uh..." The female Australian Shepherd started as she looked at Lily. "Lily?" She said. Lily lowered her ears a bit from surprise. "H-how do you know my name?" Lily asked.

Lily's mind

Who is this dog? She looks strangely familiar.

"Lily... it's me. Daisy. Your mother." Daisy said. "What...?! No, that's impossible. My-my mother died a long time ago by getting hit by a car." Lily said. "Lily... don't you remember. Actually, you probably don't because it was a long time ago and you were just a pup starting to open your eyes. But I promise you I'm your mother. And a girl named Mia took you in, I'm sure you remember your girl." Daisy said. "But... if you... if you're alive then why... ugh. Nevermind. I don't know what's going on but I do know that I need to get back home." Lily said. "New York, right?" Daisy asked. "What are you, a stalker, too?" Lily snapped as she walked away. "I'm just saying that I know a faster way to New York than to walk." Daisy said. "It's fine, we can walk five more hours." Lily said. "Five? More like ten." Daisy said. Lily looked back at Daisy and said, "TEN?!" "You're in Mississippi, love," Daisy said. "MISSISSIPPI?!!? BUT WE SHOULD BE IN VIRGINIA!!!" Lily said. "I'm afraid your not. Your train was taking you to Mississippi." Daisy said. Pluto and Lily looked at Aspen angrily. "What? I thought it said TO New York not OUT of Nashville." Aspen said. "OK, so how do we get back home?" Lily asked. "I'm a pilot. Well, more like assistant pilot. I can fly you to New York if you trust me enough." Daisy said. "Well I'm sorry but I DON'T trust you enough. I'd rather walk." Lily said. "OK, suit yourself, love. And if you come across Petunia tell her I said hi." Daisy said. Lily rolled her eyes then kept on walking. Then she stopped. "Wait. How do you know my sister..?" Lily wondered surprised. Daisy smirked then said, "I think I'd know my own daughter's name. One of them at least." Lily thought for a moment said smiled. "Mom...?" She said as she ran up to her then hugged her. Pluto wiped away a tear of happiness and Aspen groaned in disgust. Then it started raining. "Seriously...?" Aspen said annoyed. "Who are these dogs?" Daisy asked softly. "Oh, these are my friends, Pluto and Aspen." Lily said. "Who didn't want any part in this trip." Aspen said. Daisy chuckled and said, "Come on, let's get out of the rain."

~That rainy night~

Inside an empty dry cave, Pluto and Aspen were fast asleep. But Lily was still up. "Lily? You okay?" Daisy asked. "Am I okay? No, I am not okay! All these years I thought you were dead. But you're alive. And you haven't come back for me. You just stayed on the streets, flying planes, or whatever while I'm a famous Pup Star and behind all that richness and famous stuff I have been thinking my Mom is proud of me up in Heaven. And all this time you could of been in my presence TELLING me how proud you are that I made it this far. Where were you?" Lily asked madly. "Look, I knew Mia would take care of you but I was looking for you-" Daisy started then Lily said, "Wait... how do you know Mia?" Daisy looked down and said, "Mia finding you wasn't a mistake." Lily looked at her mom totally traumatized.

Flashback

Daisy: When I was a stray and you weren't even born yet and Petunia was two weeks old, your father died in a car crash. Once you were born, I took care of you and Petunia as much as I could. But deep down I knew I would never be able to be a successful mother that you and your bigger sister deserved. So one day, I looked around for a loving person and I found Mia. I saved her from all the traffic in the road.

Mia: Thanks for helping me. Is there anything I can do for you in return?

Daisy: Actually... yes.

Mia: What?

Daisy: You'll know soon.

Later in the flashback...

Daisy: I left a yellow lily next to you when you were sleeping with Petunia. That way, whoever adopted you would know that your name was Lily. One day, I saw Petunia in the middle of the road. I saved her but... I got hit by the car in the process. And apparently, Mia found you and adopted you. Petunia went off alone and became and famous rapper and rapper producer.

End of flashback

"Wait. So... Mia paid you back by adopting me because she knew that's what you would want?" Lily asked. "Yes," Daisy said with a chuckle. "But how did you survive getting hit by a car?!" Lily asked. "Oh, I kinda got scared and then suddenly everything went black but I soon realized I wasn't hit by the car. I went under the car. And that night, I went to sleep feeling so bad for just giving you up." Daisy said. Lily nuzzled her mom and said, "I've missed you, Mom," Daisy smiled at her then nuzzled her back.
