Alphabets

So the first step to learn any language is to learn the writing script or alphabets

Hindi is written in the Devanagari script

In Hindi there are 2 categories

a) स्वर (Swar ) – vowels

b) व्यंजन (Vyanjan) – consonants

There are vowels diacritics, which are symbols attached to the consonants . we will learn more about this later

The virama (विराम ) indicates that the 'a' sound is muted.
For instance, this Hindi word would be pronounced as kam (कम). With the virama (विराम ) under the k (क्), it’s pronounced as km.
