"All of the infected humans are stable," Cas said. "I don't think this will kill them."
"What about the pack?" I asked quickly.
"I couldn't find them," he answered. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Couldn't find them? What do you mean you couldn't find them?! You're an angel Cas!" I reminded him, as if he's forgotten he was capable or something.
"I'm aware of that Dean. But I couldn't find them. They're not in the school," he said again, like he was talking to a child. I wanted to smack him for his tone.
"Well then where are they?!" I demanded.
"Dean-," Sam started, but I ignored him.
"Can you find them Cas?" I asked the angel.
"I tried Dean. Wherever they are, it must be warded." He explained.
"How's that even possible? They had no idea angels existed before we told them. And I highly doubt they're doing it on purpose..." I tried to put it together in my head, it wasn't making sense. Where are they?
"Derek's family is a very old werewolf family with a lot of history... maybe one of their ancestors knew and warded a place against you? But where would they have gone? No one was allowed in or out of the school. They've got to be in there." Sam said solemnly.
"Well they're not!" Cas thundered, and my head snapped around to look at him. The angel looked agitated, and like he might explode any moment.
"Hey- hey, it's okay Cas. I know you're doing your best here. Just calm down okay?" I said in a soothing voice. I pulled the angel into my arms gently and he returned the hug gratefully.
"They're just kids Dean," he whispered brokenly.
"I know baby, I know. We'll find them." I said reassuringly.
"I'm not a baby Dean," Cas said in an embarrassed whisper. I chuckled at his response.
"Cas- I don't mean you're an actual baby- it's just something we call the people that we love," I explained in a low voice.
"Ohh!" He breathed, and then a light flush spread across his cheeks. He's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
"Okay, enough with the googly eyes," Sam said from his seat with a lopsided grin. "I think I found something."
I snapped out of it and gave him my undivided attention. He was looking at the screen again and when he didn't continue I snorted impatiently. "Well?!"
"Ohh- right. So I figured if it's a disease designed to kill werewolves, then maybe I should research, you know, dog related diseases," he said with a fake cough. "Don't tell any of them I said that."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah yeah, go on."
"Anyway, the symptoms that they described line up with canine distemper, or close to it anyway. I'm thinking that's what we're dealing with." He explained.
"So what does that mean?" I asked him. Did he really think I would know what canine distemper or whatever is?
"It means... we need to find them. Or they're going to die." He finished gravely.
