Thunder boomed from outside the Nemesis, startling me from my nightmare. Breathing heavy I grabbed for the pills on my bedside table. I popped two into my mouth, placing my head on my knees. It's in the past...there's nothing you can do about it now. As soon as my breathing calmed down, my gauntlet rang. With a heavy sigh, I picked it up and found the last person I would want to talk to right now was calling me. I answered. "Lord Megatron?"

: Darksong, report to the throne room: And before I could ask why, he hung up. With a growl, I rolled out of bed, stretching my pitch-black wings out. What the hell could he want at one o'clock in the morning? Nothing good. I shimmed out of my pjs, being sure to put them in the hamper, and pulled on black leggings and a random purple shirt. Pulling my gauntlet on, my wings disappeared in a cloud of black smoke. As I made my way through the empty halls of the Nemesis, I braided my mess of black hair.

I passed one of the night posts that the Vehicons had to fill and watched as they bowed. I didn't stay for long. I hated that they bowed. It was wrong. They had brains. They had feelings. It was slavery.

"Lady Darksong." I tensed up at the sound of Starscream's voice. What the hell was he doing up?

"Starscream." Once at my side, he kept pace with me.

"What might you be up to at such an hour?" I looked up at him to find he was already looking down at me. The mere fact that I had to look up to him made my blood go cold. I was a tall female who normally towered over others, thanks to my mom and father. Very few towered over me and Starscream was one of them.

"What does it matter to you, Starscream?" The seeker gave a shrug. He held more grace in that one shrug then I could hold ever in anything.

"Just making friendly conversation." I turned away from the seeker.

"You can take your 'friendly conversation' and leave me be." Lighting flashed from outside followed by booming thunder.

"Fine. My stop is here anyway." We both came to a stop in front of the door which leads to the throne room. Anger and anxiety balled in the pit of my stomach.

"Why are you going in here?"

"Ah--now look who wants to have a conversation," I growled up at him.

"Answer me." The seeker stared down at me with narrowed, red eyes.

"Lord Megatron called for me." My anger and anxiety built.

"Why?" I asked, trying to keep my voice even. Starscream turned away from me, staring at the still-closed door.

"He never tells me why." I faced the door as well. He never tells me why either. I placed my hand on the lock pad and the door slid open, showing off the dark and gloomy throne room. Sitting on his crooked throne sat Lord Megatron himself. Starscream and I silently made our way across the room. We both fell to one knee, placing a fist over our hearts, once at the bottom of the few stairs leading to the throne.

"The Autobots seem to think even when the sun has set they can attack our mines." We both stood once he started talking. "I need you both to go and deal with them."

"Yes, Lord Megatron." I watched Megatron typed something on his silver gauntlet. Seconds later, Starscream's gauntlet rang alongside mine. Megatron rubbed his tired, red eyes.

"I don't want a single piece of energon missing. Understood?" Again, we placed a hand over our hearts and bowed.

"Yes, my Lord."

"Go." And we did.

"Fly?" Starscream questioned once we were out of the throne room.

"Yes." My wings needed a stretch. They appeared in a cloud of black smoke and I ignored the fascination Starscream tried to hide as he watched this happen. I would never get what he was so fascinated about. I pressed the button on my gauntlet that activated my purple armor. It formed around my body and wings with ease. Starscream followed in my lead and activated his gray armor. We passed a group of Vehicons patrolling the halls. They all stopped, placing a fist over their hearts.
