Chapter 7: Roommates

For Starscream...For Starscream...Starscream...Something had happened to him. Had he been injured? No...no he had been killed. Someone was talking through the fog of my mind. I tried opening my eyes. I had to get to Starscream. I tried to move. My fingers twitched. My eyes fluttered open. He was dead. He was dead. The talking got closer. Maybe he was alright? Maybe that was him. I tried calling out to him. Starscream! Starscream! "Starscream!" 

My eyes shot open and I sat straight up, sending shooting pain throughout my back. The fluorescent lights of the med bay stung at my already burning eyes. My body screamed at me to lay back down, but I ignored it and looked around. I wasn't in the ship's med bay. But other injured Cons lay on the beds. Knockout came over to my side and tried to ease me back down. "Whoa. Lay down. You lost a lot of blood." I blinked a few times. 

"Starscream. He's--he's dead." I said, a pain filled my chest that was more painful than any physical pain I had ever felt. Knockout scoffed.

"If only we were so lucky." I went to sit back up, confused.

"I saw him. He wasn't breathing." Knockout pushed me back down, making me flinch. 

"No. He's completely fine. He just took the back of a sword to the head." I nodded my head, the pain in my chest slowly ebbing away. 

"The ship. We--"

"Crashed. Yes. Soundwave is working on getting us back in the air." I looked around. If we were on the ship then where were we? Knockout seemed to read my mind. "Most of the ship is crushed so we had to relocate to the Magamaze. And before you get your hopes up, no. We don't get our own rooms. Breakdown and I have to share our room with Dreadwing. The lug takes up half the room! And there's no privacy but the bathroom." He scoffed. "It's downright cruel." I rolled my eyes as I picked at the cast my arm was in. 

"If Starscream's not dead then where is he?" Knockout rolled back over to his desk and checked the mirror. 

"Seeing who is still alive. Making sure we didn't lose energon. Ect. Ect." Knockout said, bored, combing through his cherry-red hair. 

"And how did I get here?" 

"Lord Megatron dragged you in here." That was the second time he has done that. Why was he showing such kindness? Such weakness? "He's off somewhere. Just a little dent here and there." Knockout said plucking at his eyebrows.

Later that night, once I wasn't writhing in pain, I walked around the Magamaze. I had only been here a few times over the centuries. Only long enough to check up on the place and its leader. I checked over my gauntlet. All rooms had been filled to the max. All except Arachnids room, which she shared with three Vehicons, and Starscreams which had yet to be filled. Seeing as I had no interest in rooming with a spider, I made my way towards Starscream's room. 

As I made my way to the room, I stopped a few Vehicons to talk with them. They told me that they were the Vehicons stationed here and Lord Megatron had made a point of telling the battle beaten Vehicons to go to sleep. There was no way in hell he was telling them that out of the kindness of his heart. It was either because he needed them battle-ready or there weren't many Vehicons left and he wanted to hide that fact. Either way, it wasn't to do good. 

The dim lights of the hallway lit up the number on the side of the door. The door that held Starscream and my greatest mistake. Messing with my bottle of painkillers, I stared at the door. I needed to sleep. I needed to sleep or I would be in trouble in the morning...but Starscream would be my roommate. With a deep sigh, I knocked on the door. Slight sound came from within before the door slid open to reveal Starscream's tired and beat up face. That phantom pain came back as I looked him over. "Lady Darksong?"
