The Final Countdown

We get back from Purgatory and the mood of the house has changed now that the Holy Trinity is no longer together. I personally think it is a great thing for Nany because now she does not have that big of a target on her and she can blend in if she wants to. We begin talking about what we want to do about this week since it is a guy's week and Josh and Cory express the desire to be put into Purgatory so they can get their Red Skull. I want to go in there so I can earn a Red Skull for myself instead of for an ally that I want to protect from going home.

Nothing exciting really happens so we all decide to go to bed. We wake up early and are told to dress warm for the main challenge that we are competing in today. I am worried about how cold it is. Before we leave, I get called over to the producer's room by Melissa. I am worried because this is starting to remind me of the time that Zahida pulled me aside with her and found out that her grandfather had passed away. I fear that something like that has happened to my mom or brothers and I am panicking.

Melissa: Brett, your mom is on the phone wanting to talk to you and it does not sound good.

Brett: Couldn't this wait until after the challenge?

Melissa: No. I was told by your mom that it was an emergency and involves you and your brothers.

Brett: Give me the phone.

I grab the phone from Melissa and hit unmute.

Brett: Hey mom. What's wrong?

Mom: Do you have somewhere that you can sit and talk?

Brett: Is it that bad?

She does not say anything and now I am nervous.

Brett: MOM, WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!

Mom: Brett, your father escaped prison and tried to kill Xavier. Luckily, he is okay but your dad is not.

Brett: WHAT?!?! When did this happen?

Mom: Two days ago.

Brett: Two days!?!? My little brother and my best friend nearly died and you decided to tell me now?!?!

Mom: THIS WAS NOT AN EASY DECISION BRETT! DO YOU THINK I WANTED TO KEEP THIS FROM YOU?!? NO! But, Xavier requested for you not to know until we found out what happened to your father.

Brett: Is Xavier okay?

Mom: Yes. He is recovering fine and is set to be discharged tomorrow.

Brett: I should have been there! I am leaving right now.

Mom: Brett Weston Price! You will do no such thing! Xavier specifically said that if you left the competition because of him, he would beat your ass up at the airport.

Brett: Ok. So wait, what is going on with Mr. Johnson?

Mom: You will never call him dad, will you?

Brett: No. That man might have helped you conceive me, but he will never be called father.

Mom: Well, you won't be able to anymore because he's dead.

Brett: Wait, what? How?

Mom: When the cops arrived on the scene of him beating up Xavier to find where you are, he attacked the cops and they had no choice but to end his life.

I go silent as I am processing all of this information. My biggest tormentor and abuser from when I was a kid to even now is no longer around. I... I don't know what to think. I am overjoyed that Xavier is okay and would have blamed myself if something really bad would have happened to him. I am just wondering why my biological father wanted to find out where I am at.
