He couldn't quite put his finger on it...

But something changed.

Rarely did Freddie ever wake as early as Lucy, however this morning she slept uncharacteristically past 11am after a full night of tossing and turning in bed beside him.

Freddie believed she'd been in the midst of a bad dream the way she almost jumped out of her skin when he woke her.

"Sleepy baby? Hm?" His voice warmed her with his soft greeting while his hand highlighted the curves of her body.

"Your fault for fucking me the way you do."

The sheets slid down the back of his body when Freddie rolled on top of Lucy and parted her legs to make room for him.

Propped up on his elbows above her, he rested in pure speculation when he looked at her... really looked at her; well aware of how exposed they were to one another. He felt the warmth of her love and adoration for him in her eyes, all hidden behind a cloud of concern.

He laid his head on top of her breasts and sighed in pure contentment when she stroked a path through his hair down his neck to his back, the morning light magnifying the intimacy between them.

Something changed.

She kissed his forehead with her next intention to slip out of bed, much more haste in her temperament than usual. She turned her head and squinted at the sunlight coming through the window. "I slept so late..." The grogginess had yet to clear from her voice. "I'll make you some tea,"

"Well hold on a minute, hold on..." Freddie gripped her arm and tugged her away from the edge of the bed. "What's going on? Talk to me..."

"It's nothing."

"It's nothing," Freddie's tone mocked her. "I mean really? You expect me to buy "it's nothing?' You should know that after I've known you this long, I can tell when something's not 'nothing' ".

He slid down her body and the heat of his breath ghosted down the path of her skin to hover over her belly button. Squeezing her sides, he kissed her stomach. "I'll get it out of you soon enough."

"You fucking stalker! I wanna fight you!"

Lucy shook herself from Freddie's arm and stormed toward Roman who sat on the curb at the edge of the street waiting for them. He took the cigarette from his lips and blew smoke in Lucy's direction as she charged toward him.

"Learn something new every day—I suppose I should note this as one of the ways my girlfriend says hello..."

Freddie picked up his steps and chased after Lucy in hopes that she wouldn't kill Roman before the real show started. He wasn't yet sure what Roman was here for or why, but he knew this wouldn't be boring.
