"Violet. I want you in airlock 2 with the door open waiting for me before the retrieval begins."

"Understood."

"Diana. You lower us to intercept."

"Got it."

"Phoenix. You start the ascent. How's the tether?"

"I finished attaching it. It's over 250 meters."

Lucy nodded. "Once we hit intercept point, I'll go get them. You standby on backup. If everything goes well, you pull us in with the tether. If anything goes wrong, you go out after them."

"Copy that."

"Good." Kissing her necklace and buckling herself in for Phase 1, she held on to the thought of Him. "Let's get them in here, get out, and get home."

Sure, for centuries the most powerful members of the Royal Family tended to come off to many as nothing short of.... Stuffy.

But that began to change. A youthful and energetic spirit came to the monarchy when Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer.

She craved a day for Her. One of still telephones and silent clocks. Birdsong that came so sweetly, almost tangible, as if it were softly spun sugar. She'd find time to sit at Bombay Brasserie in Kensington gazing upon the clouds that still held her dreams.

In her high-profile life, she greatly appreciated others who understood the burden she bore in the public eye. Especially the starry Freddie Mercury who too seemed to understand the value of an evening drinking champagne and watching Golden Girls at Kenny Everett's home, adding their own naughtier storylines over the muted episodes.

"If the press knew I wanted to marry Hasnat instead... they'd be in front of the castle with my head on a stick!" Hand over her chest to maintain her grace, laughing at her unsightly troubles. "Am I completely mad?"

"Fuck them!" Freddie swayed to no beat other than the one he was creating in his head. "You don't love Charles."

"I don't!" The Princess agreed. It sure was far easier to admit with a few swigs of champagne and no fear of judgment. "But they couldn't care less.." She sighed, resting her chin on her hand.

"He was in the navy in his younger years right?" Kenny turned to Freddie, chuckling. "You think Lucy can rough him up a bit? I bet he'll be willing to budge after that."

"Hm mhm I'll see if she can fit it in somewhere between disabling bombs and outer space," Freddie nodded sarcastically. "Falling in love with a fucking superhero.." he mumbled under his breath. That called for another drink.

Truthfully, things between him and Lucy had gotten so complicated and undefined that neither of them knew exactly where they stood with one another.
