"Sick of this shit... what the fuck was that?"
Lucy stormed out of Freddie's flat with all her belongings in her backpack, throwing her arms up in pent up frustration, unsure of where exactly she thought she was going. Anywhere would be better than cooped up in his flat on punishment.
"Quite the show on national news wasn't it?" Daisuke waited at the bottom of the steps like clockwork.
She stopped and cocked her head. "You were expecting me?"
"Mrs. Wua wondered if you'd find your way back home..."
"You met her?!"
"She called The Agency. Concerned for you."
"Aww.. she was?"
"Yes. She thought Kane had something to do with it."
"Maybe she should keep him on a leash..."
"I should keep you on a leash. Here." Daisuke guided Lucy to walk in front of him.
As they walked, he gently detangled the rushed bun on top of her head, threading his long experienced fingers skillfully through her strands as they walked. He scratched her scalp and created a part, separating and slicking two sections into a braid down her back. "I was worried I'd never see you again. I wrote the letter in the midst of that."
"What letter?"
"I'm sure you'll hear about it from Phoenix soon enough."
"Ahh..." Lucy playfully elbowed him singing, "vulnerability hangover from hanging out with Phoenix..." smiling before mumbling under her breath, "she brings that out in people. It's annoying huh? I love that about her."
He smoothed down final flyaways on Lucy's head and let her go. "I also came for the new HQ."
"You mean HQ 2 is finally happening?"
"Without Goh's mandates to block expansion, the Agency's impact is already growing. London is the newest division."
"Really???"
"Mr. Yien would like you to run the division."
"What?!?!?"
"Of course. Donations for Korean relief are still pouring in. American troops are returning home. He feels more women should be in charge. What do you think of that?"
"Wow..."
Daisuke chuckled and rested his hand on her head. "Anything else?"
"Wait. If I run the division, does that mean...?"
"Yes. Commander Clemonte."
Wide-eyed ambition lit up all over her face, only to be crushed by a frown.
"It's just that, Freddie's kinda mad at me about... all this, you know."
"Mad at you?"
"It's just—He doesn't understand this part of my life. And he gets really upset... when we have to be apart."
"He seems to travel a lot too. Doesn't he?"
"I know right?! Next big leg of his tour's coming up and he'll be rehearsing all day. But today when I got home he told me he didn't even want me there..."
The streets slicked with last night's cold London rain reflected the wispy opaque gray clouds in their puddles. A café across the street caught her eye when Lucy breathed in the chilled humidity. "Wanna get some breakfast?"
