What Freddie really wanted to see was the look on her face when she read Daisuke's letter. He followed her into the kitchen for a front row seat to the show with Mary latching herself onto his arm.

"Did you bring her here to piss me off?" Lucy cursed over her shoulder, furiously digging through the mail for the letter that apparently they both already knew about...

"Darling what kind of shit question is that?" Freddie retaliated, cockiness on full display." Why would you ask me this—were you with him all day to piss me off?? Is that what it is??"

Ignoring him, she took off out of the kitchen groaning, fists clenching for a moment of privacy.

Freddie chased behind her and caught her in the hallway, grabbing her arm to drive his point home. "You ran to him!"

"You didn't need me!" she scoffed. "What did you expect me to do? Wait around at your beckoning call? Hoping for when you come home?"

"Like I do?? Like when I wait for you to come home every single fucking time?? Running myself bloody insane over you??"

The way Mary had crept her way in to hang on his arm burned Lucy's eyes and she wasn't sure how much longer she could stomach it. "Mary. I think you should leave."

"Don't be ridiculous, I'm not gonna let you kick her out!!" Freddie protested. "Not everyone just leaves like you do."

The hallway darkened with unbearably taut tension that overpowered their ability to reason with one another as it spiraled out of control.

When his fingers tightened around her arm, she shook herself free. "I can't have a life of my own can I? I'm just supposed to get sucked into yours and just live yours.. that's what you want isn't it?!"

"You're putting this on me?? That's bullshit you know—Have any idea how behind we are on schedule thanks to a lovely meeting of your mother??? Thanks to that little stunt I'm not sure we're gonna make it on time.."

"Maybe we should have made it more like the time I met your parents and found out you'd been kissing another man in a hot tub? Maybe that would have been a better 'stunt'."

"Do you hear yourself?? We'd moved past that—that was over. Don't fucking hold that over my head."

"You're getting mad at me when there was nothing I could do about that except what I did, come home."

"Oh, I don't care—You ran to him! To another man who's in love with you."

"Come on Freddie..."

"Go on, read the fucking letter! Read it!"

"I will read the fucking letter when I damn well choose! Not just because you want me to!" Lucy put her hands on her hips, clenching the letter in her fist. "Why are you reading my letters anyway?!?"

"Darling, I've very well got clearance to anything that comes to my home as far as I'm concerned."

"Is that what you think? Because I'm here in your house you can tell me what to fucking do?"

"You seem to have no problem letting everyone order you around. Especially Commander Goh—"

He'd pressed the hot button that sent Lucy flying off the handle, storming away from him through the flat to sweep up any remainder of her belongings.

"Don't walk away from me." He followed her. "I'm talking to you."

Grabbing her, he forced her to face him in the deep end of this Armageddon, the steam of frustration clouding their judgement and polluting the bond between them. Past the point of anger, he just wanted to get even.

"Watching you get felt up by some guy after I heard NOTHING from you for days!" He squeezed her tighter until the vein in his neck swelled and protruded. "How do you think that made me feel?"

"You think I like seeing your ex at dinner with us??"

"It was you who ruined everything!" she'd almost forgotten Mary was there until she plucked up the courage to speak up and defend herself. "I would be at home having dinner with him every night if it hadn't been for you." Hissing, the blonde got bolder. "You have some nerve even blinking at me when you took him from me knowing he was dating me!"

"You really need to chill because you really don't know what you're talking about" Lucy double-checked.

"You were all over him! Right in front of me while he was still dating me! Me! And now you're reaping what you've sewn!"

Shaking and overheating with anger, Lucy clenched her fists, ready to wring her neck. "Is that what this is gonna be Freddie? Me constantly having to fight her for your love and attention?"

"Is this what he's supposed to expect from you? Constantly abandoning him?" Not yet ready to stand up to Lucy on her own, Mary clung to Freddie and cowered behind him just in case.

"Why are you here???" Lucy attacked her at the top of her lungs.

"At least she was here!" Freddie defended.

Grabbing her, He ignored Lucy's struggles against his grip and slammed her up against the wall. Pressing his body against hers, he pinned her in place and forced her to face him again, both of them on the tip of their tongue with what to say next.

She stopped avoiding his gaze and raised her eyes to meet his that were aflame with such fervent passion that she began to sink under the weight of all the emotion they held.

Bodies now flush together, Freddie's fingers dug into her flesh, the heat of his labored breaths on her neck tempting her to drop everything and give in to him.

Words that wanted to come out hitched in her throat, racing against her heart thundering in her chest while her lips quivered with repressed urge to be whole again.

When their noses touched, she ran her hand down his warm chest, running her fingers over the pendant of her necklace before clenching it in her fist.

"You knew this about me before we got into this..." Her voice tethered on the brink of a tearful desperate whisper, reliving memories of their first meetings. "Why is she here? Doesn't look like it's over between you two.."

"Well it's different with her... She's known me before it all and understands me in a different way that others don't, it's simply impossible. If everyone leaves I've still got her.. she'll still be there. We believe in each other."

"Then why did you even want to be with me? Since you're so much happier with her and she's so special and important.... What am I even doing here??"

She shoved him away, grabbed her backpack of belongings, and let the door slam behind her on her way out without another word.
