With her hair and makeup done, Stevie was alone in her dressing room. Usually, she'd be surrounded by people, but there was a lot going through her mind and she didn't want anyone with her. She should have regretted the previous night, but she didn't, not really. Maybe because she was away from home, because she didn't have to see Don. However, she knew that the guilt would come as soon as Don would look at her lovingly, pull her in his arms and kiss her, saying he loved her.
The knock on the door caught Stevie's attention. "Come in."
"Hey." Lindsey said, opening the door.
"Hi." She replied, looking at him through the mirror.
They hadn't talked about what happened. Eventually, they fell asleep together and in the morning, before Lindsey woke up, Stevie quietly left his room. She didn't want to talk about it then yet, she wasn't really sure what it meant for them.
"How are you doing?" Lindsey asked, approaching her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and she lay hers over his. He took it as a good sign.
"I'm alright. You?"
"I'm fine."
The small talk was painful for the both of them, but they had to start somewhere. Now was not the time to get into their messy relationship, they had to go out on stage soon.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you." Stevie said, cocking her head back.
Lindsey looked down at her. "I really want to kiss you."
"What's stopping you?"
With that, Lindsey walked around to stand in front of Stevie. Touching the side of her face with his hand, he drew her in for a lingering kiss.
"I missed you this morning, when I woke up." Lindsey whispered against her lips, unwilling to pull away. "But I get it."
Stevie sighed in relief, the last thing she wanted was to start arguing right away. "I didn't want to wake you and I had to leave." A little white lie couldn't hurt.
"Where do we go from here?"
"Where do we go from here?" Stevie echoed. It seemed like they both had a lot of questions, but none of the answers. "Things sort of got out of hand... I didn't plan on any of this to happen."
"Me either." Lindsey shrugged, standing up straight, but not moving from her. "All I know is that last night meant a lot to me. It was... different. We have returned to that place before, but it has never been like that."
"I know." Stevie nodded her head, nervously spinning one of the rings around her finger. "And it scares the hell out of me."
"I don't want for it to end just like that." He admitted, his eyes on hers. He could tell she didn't want that either.
"A lot of people could get hurt."
"Including us." Lindsey added and Stevie didn't disagree. "Clearly, we don't know what's going on here." He showed between them with his hand. "But could we maybe just... go along with it for a while."
Thinking for a moment, she thought that doing that was possibly for the best right now. Stevie didn't want to dig deeper and try to understand, what had once again sparked between them, but she didn't want to stop just yet.
The dressing room door opened and Karen came in, slightly taken aback to see Lindsey in there. "Am I interrupting?"
"No." Stevie shook her head, relieved, and repeated. "No, you're not interrupting."
"Uh, so... I'm going to go." Lindsey said, suddenly feeling awkward. "Maybe we could meet up after the show?"
"Yeah, I'd like that." Stevie smiled looking up at him as he gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze on his way out.
With a raised eyebrow, Karen had to ask. "What's going on? Why would you see Lindsey after the show?"
"It's, uh- it's about a song for a new Fleetwood Mac album."
"Huh, really? I didn't know you guys were thinking about making a new record."
I didn't know either, Stevie thought to herself.
