~Chapter 23~

|Kimberly's POV|

I finally got out of the hospital, and I stood in the doorway of my room. This was the room I stayed in when I was adopted, and now I was leaving it. I admit, I really didn't like this whole idea of moving away, but it was so I could stay with my new real family.

I sighed as I looked at the empty room one more time before I turned around and closed the door softly behind me.

I went down the hallway and glanced around, looking at everyone's room doors. Each was decorated in a special way as I went down a story, and looked at the other doors. Memories flooded back to me as I reached the bottom step and walked into the kitchen, which was a part of the living room.

I saw the TV and remembered all the movies me and the boys watched together on it. I saw the couch cushions and blankets and remembered the fort I built with Nash. I saw the backyard where I would play with Poppy. I saw the table where we ate meals together as a family.

I wiped a tear from my eyes, and Poppy walked over to me and sat next to me, leaning her head against my leg.

I scratched her head behind her ears and her tail wagged. "Say goodbye to this house, Poppy. We'll be leaving it soon." I said, and Poppy looked at me curiously. I sighed and I smiled at her. "We'll be going to live somewhere else." I said, and we started walking towards the door.

She followed close behind and I opened the door, seeing everyone there saying goodbye to Matt and Annie. But when they all saw me, they dashed over and hugged me until I couldn't breathe anymore.

"Can't... Breathe...!" I said, and they all let go. "We're gonna miss you, kid." Aaron said, and he ruffled my hair. "I'm going to miss you too." I responded. "Kimmy, we're leaving." Matt called as he honked the horn on his car.

"Coming." I called, and I gave everyone a group hug again. "It's not like your living across the world, your only a couple minutes away." Mahogany said, and I guess that cheered me up a bit.

"Okay. I'll see you guys later." I said as I turned to the car and climbed in the backseat, and Poppy jumped in and sat beside me, resting her head on my lap.

We were going to start a new life with my family. And I can't say I'm ready, but I would do anything to make my loved ones happy. Goodbye, old house, and hello new one.
