Training Poppy

So, last chapter, there was a new addition to the family, Poppy the Great Dalusktriever (Great Dane, dalmatian, husky, golden retriever.) lol

Anyways, this chapter will be about Kimberly training her dog.

|Kimberly's POV|

It's been at least three days since the party, and all of the boys managed to house train Poppy. I was laying in my bed on a Sunday morning with Poppy curled up in my arms. I was just drifting back to sleep when she started licking my face.

"Ah! Poppy!" I giggled as I pushed her head away from my face.

She stopped and jumped off my bed, then ran to the door and ran around again before she jumped back on the bed and licked my face again. I laughed as I picked her up and put her in the floor. Then I opened the door and she raced out.

I followed her down the stairs and I gave her some food, then I filled her water bowl with water. Her food and water bowls were in the kitchen, so I could feed her while everyone else was eating.

Matt was cooking bacon and eggs and everyone else was sitting at the table. I took a seat between Mahogany and Aaron and started munching on some eggs. I tossed a piece of bacon to Poppy, and she gobbled it up.

"So, Kim, we're thinking about training Poppy today, what do you think?" Matt asked, and I nodded.

"Ok, I'll train her after breakfast." I said. "Poppy, sit." I say as I held a piece of bacon above her nose, but she just jumped up to try and get it. I went behind her and pushed her rump on the ground so that she was sitting. Then, I firmly said; "sit."

Then I gave her the bacon and she ate it in one bite. I made her stand up again, and told her to sit, but she just kept staring at the bacon. "Sit." I said as I pushed her rump down again. "Sit." I said firmly, and she sneezed.

I laughed and gave her the bacon.

"Sit." I said again. This time, she seemed to understand and she sat down on her own.

"Good girl!" I praised as I gave her the bacon. She rolled on her back so I could run her belly and she wagged her tail happily as I scratched her belly.

"She learns fast." Nash said, amazed as they watched me.

I finished eating and grabbed the bag of treats that Mahogany got me. "Poppy, come here, girl!" I called to her and she bounded over to me. We ran outside and played tag again before I told her to sit and she listened. I tossed a treat in the air and she jumped for it.

She managed to catch it in her jaws and she waited for another treat.

"Poppy, do you know lay down?" I asked her. She cocked her head to the side and I smiled at her.

"Poppy, lay down!" I said as I pulled her front paws out from under her and pushed her rump down so that she was laying down. "Lay down." I said firmly. Then I gave her a treat.

I did the same thing as I did with the trick, sit, and she learned lay down and roll over.

Roll over was by far her favorite trick, because whenever I told her to roll over, I would rub her belly and she would squirm around excitedly.

Soon, it was the afternoon and we went back inside. Poppy immediately ran upstairs while I ate lunch and I went upstairs to see her asleep on the foot of my bed.

I smiled at her and tip-toed back down the stairs so I wouldn't wake her up.

So I'm thinking that I'm going to skip ahead a year, but don't worry, because I'm going to keep her as a little girl for a little longer.
